Ethan transformed using the Super-Nova power, but he didn't really like the suit that he'd get which was a carbon copy of Eileen's, which made the public think he was her and it triggered his identity crisis, so he went to the drawing board to make himself a new outfit and came up with nothing.
Since he has shared memories with Eileen, he knows about Junior and his passion for artistry, so he forced him to design him a suit and ultimately settled on a design that echoed Eileen's stepfather, Angel.
He kept the heart window because a piece of him feels connected to Eileen's pursuit of justice, but he's not gonna go about things the same way she would.
Sex appeal means nothing to him and nor does reforming criminals. They must all go and one by one they'll fall.

Was initially trying to make Junior the Shadow inspiration which is why red is his color, but he just never fit and I eventually settled on him being a gentle guy who has things keep happening to him. Besides, if I'm gonna give Eileen a clone, I might as well embrace the opposites.
