The Czech Unicorn LMG: A Squad Support CZ-2000 (ad-free full version)

The CZ-2000 project in the Czech Republic (derived from the Lada developed in the late years of Czechoslovakia) envisioned a full suite of infantry arms, much like the AK as used by other countries. There would be an SMG-type compact weapon (akin to the AKS-74U "Krinkov"), a standard infantry rifle, and a light support weapon. It's that last one that we are looking at today, with a longer barrel and bipod.

Surviving examples of CZ-2000s are extremely rare today, as the system never went into production and only early trials examples and prototypes were made.

Many thanks to CZ for letting me take a look at the excellent historical artifact from their archives! See all their social media here:  https://www.instagram.com/czguns/

Thank you.

It's a Varusteleka windproof smock (https://www.varusteleka.com/en/product/sarma-windproof-smock/34637)

Forgotten Weapons

Dang, now I want another rare prototype.

Patrick Yamada

Ian, what make is your smock? Enjoyed the film.

It's probably the drum magazine that violated their pointless rule of maximum 20 bullets per magazine…

Alexander Thomas

Idk know where I read/heard it, but it was said/suggested to add a few more winds to the spring about midway to ensure reliable feeding. Ive always done that on my AK drum and dont recall ever having feeding issues.

Super cool LMG. Maybe they should develop a beta mag setup, it seems to work with the AR style rifles and if I am not mistaken the Germans developed some for their LMGs in WW1 and WW2, the MG15 comes to mind.

Is that another bipod/bayonet mount under the gas block?

WTF with Youtube? No shooting now?

Steven Vanosdall

that rear sight seems real great. if one ever would have the time to dial in distance that is kind of fast and easy yet where a rear sight SHOULD be and peep not some notch.... too bad that drum doesn't worak so well.

Guido Schriewer

I sent my thank you to the cz factory , told em to bring you back,I love everything cz, I raced a 250 cz in highschool

Reed Gregory

Issues with too light a spring rather than the drum itself.

David K. Jernigan

You just got jammed.

David K. Jernigan

It great that the folks at CZ let you take all these fairly rare guns out and shoot them. Tell them thanks from all of us.

David K. Jernigan

This video kinda shows why Brits loved shooting the L86 (yes I know about the reliability and barrel heat problems)
