I'm in Austin.
That's a fun little joke format, isn't it? You get the punchline up front, and get to hold onto it until it comes in handy at the end. I think just leaving it with the minimal information of 'Austin' with no visual or textual description is funnier than if I just sat around rattling off reasons why I'm disgusted, or making visual gags about all the random Austin stereotypes. Leave a little something to the imagination. If you know me, you can probably figure the general reasons.
The ascendant version of this joke would probably remove the first panel entirely, as well as the text from the second panel-- you could just post the image, blank, with the title of any city, because the city image is generic enough to be basically any city, and the reaction of disgust, because let's face it, virtually any city on earth has one reason or another to be uniquely disgust-worthy (except maybe Boulder?). It's like how every single person always insists that their specific city has the worst drivers in America, somehow.
I will admit-- there is much more character to the city than Boston, for sure, and the food is, of course, great. But I mean... come on.
