The fudge thing is 100% true, by the way. I worked at a Starbucks, not a fudge shop specifically, but the energy was palpable regardless. It was grueling, but a needed dose of reality. The island was beautiful, and I spent my days off in melancholy, biking around listening to podcasts and growing fond of Lorde's music for some reason. I wouldn't be the black-hearted ball of cynicism I am without the experience. I'm sure anyone who's been to the island can attest to the truth of my analysis.
I don't know how much else I can say about this comic; it's pretty solid jokewise, but nothing out of the ordinary, without really anything to say about society at large. I do worry about making more of these comics; am I growing stale, or just settling into my own comedic sensibilities? I certainly don't want to end producing only jokes that are little more than observations; people saying "so true!" is not the same as producing a genuine laugh, in my opinion. The thing about italian food is pretty absurd, though. You had to come up with a new dessert and you gave us fucking dessert pasta? FOH outta here, as Matt Christman would say.
I'm vegan now, so I don't really eat any of these anymore except for ice cream (easily veganized, still very tasty). Secret's out, my bias is uncovered! Call the gamergate gang or whatever, big vegetable has paid me off on this one. Sorry!
