It seems like the 'conversation with a younger me' format has become a go-to for many cartoonists to explore personal issues- I saw a very sappy version of this on twitter and the hateful, spiteful machinery of my soul drove me to lampoon it. I'm not sure most people will even know that's what this is supposed to be parodying, though it goes off the rails enough to stand on its own without that knowledge, I think... though the comic is also reliant on an understanding of Chapo, Kaiji and Grape Ape- the "Holy Trinity" of my personal brand. (not really- the grape ape bit is sort of aping two separate mega64 jokes, no pun intended)
I also tried out a lot of different color schemes to experiment with what would make text and lineart "pop" the best and be the easiest on the eyes- with comics that are as text heavy as mine, I worry about eye fatigue sometimes- its certainly a problem for me with some comics (I'm looking at you, late stage one piece).
The shoes thing is embellished- but only very slightly.
i gotta stop letting my debit cards expire
