Added 2020-04-03 21:01:45 +0000 UTCThis sort of goofy, bugs-bunny-ass slapstick is a little bit out of my usual wheelhouse, and is another gag that might work better as a one-off joke in a sitcom. Alas, I don't have the resources to make that happen. Maybe someday! Comics are my preferred medium, but I think I could potentially have success with short stories or screenwriting/directing as well, so long as comedy is in the cards.
There is a little bit of trickery here, of course- The title itself acts as a secondary punchline, the true meaning of which is only revealed upon reaching the end of the comic. If I placed it as a bit of dialogue at the end, it would dampen the visual gag of the silent, hard cut to the husband in the hospital bed. This way, one can have their proverbial cake and eat it too. Not sure if I've seen other cartoonists use this technique- perhaps a Perry Bible Fellowship strip? Further research is required.
