Ah, joking about Whole Foods in the midst of a global pandemic- this is the sort of thing that would be topical during the Obama-era Daily Show. Whatever! If there are jokes to be made, I'll make them. You get what you get and you don't get upset!
This comic was the product of a brainstorming sesh during quarantine- typically I don't actually sit down to brainstorm ideas, they will just come to me during work or a stroll outside (obviously no longer an option.) During which point I made a perhaps obvious realization- the vast majority of my comics, especially the most successful, come from a place of simply observing a negative trend in society- something unjust, ironic, something representative of the dark state of our society. Once something like this is locked in on- the more specific, the better- it is much easier for my mind to grasp onto jokes. Writing a joke about something positive or even neutral simply can't be done! Like most heavy computer users, I am fundamentally a little ball of hatred. Oh well!
Next time you're in whole foods, keep your eyes out for these as a fun little scavenger hunt. They're all very real and numerous!
