When working with models, I find there are several different types, and of course, there are crossovers.
The Primadonna, who can’t get up early in the morning, and whose world falls apart if she breaks a fingernail.
The super beautiful women know they are lovely, but they often have a preconceived idea of their appearance and do not want to be photographed from other angles. They don’t thrive in cold weather or public.
The art models who pride themselves on being "art" are great posers with often extravagant limbs articulated toward all corners of the globe.
But they do not in any way, shape, or form want to be associated with anything sexual, and they have strict boundaries of what can be in the picture and require anything not appropriate to be deleted instantly.
Then, there are Art/Nude models who go all-in.
They are sexual beings and let that shine through if appropriate. They have few boundaries, but they will do almost anything to ensure the photographer gets fantastic images, even if they occasionally get bruises or scratches.
Or get their hair ruined.

I got to think about this recently when someone asked me about the models on the upcoming Lanzarote workshops.
And spoiler alert, all the models at those workshops are from group 4.
And thinking back, those are the people I most enjoy creating with and tend to work with repeatedly.
Because we have fun.
We make the rules up as we go along; every shoot is an enjoyable experience, and we constantly develop new ways of doing pictures, which is the essence of creativity.
It reminds me of free play as a kid, you can do anything, which is so different than playing with people who set boundaries, guidelines, and many things that are off limits.
And I’m not bashing models who have personal boundaries, not wanting to be sexualized, that's everyone's individual choice. But likewise, we are all free to choose who we prefer to work with.
