Nude photographer

Both the set from Yesterday and today's set was chot when I took everyone to an unofficial nude beach, the day before we started a workshop in Majorca.

We basically just played around, did a bunch of shoots, got some sun, and chilled.

You might not know this, but Loulou (yesterday’s subject) is also a photographer, so she couldn’t resist the chance to shoot Wiana and The Endless Sinner in a variety of ways on the beach.
There’s something liberating about being nude and photographing at the same time - I’m a naturist, and so are all the others.

It was pretty entertaining to watch.
Some images were shot with my Lomo Petzval with Bokeh Control, which gives that beautifully distorted look around the edges. Perhaps not best suited from BTS shots but fun for other types of things.

If you are a photographer, have you ever tried photographing nude models while being unclothed yourself, and if so, what’s your experience?

Perhaps it’s rare, or at least it’s rare that people are open about it as it seems to be taboo, and thus many fear the potential backlash. But yeah, fun situations can arise and it’s never more serious than you make it.

It was indeed.

I know you take your work very seriously, but that had to be a fun day!

I am also both a naturist and a photographer, which, at least in the USA, is pretty rare. And yes, I have definitely been nude while photographing models. It's usually not something I'll do the first time working with a model, but if we have worked together before and are at a location where nudity is common, like a known nude beach, then I will bring up that I would also prefer to be naked and ask if they have any problems with it. About 75% are fine with it, and I'll stay clothed for those who are not. I definitely think it helps my photography, because I will feel more connected and attuned to the environment and thus more creative. However, just as you want confident models, you will also need to be confident yourself, as photographers are often in precarious positions. Say with your legs spread to balance on two rocks and bent over to get the correct angle for the photo, mooning whoever might be walking by. It also makes me more aware of adverse conditions on cold or windy days, so I know if I'm asking a lot of the models. This has led me to actually being a naked model in a photoshoot. I was inspired by a photo from Pamela Facco (@poesiacomelos on X), with a strong female holding up a vulnerable male, and wanted to make my own version of it. I asked a married couple who are both models, but she was petite and he was over 6 feet tall, so they didn't think they could pull it off. I ended up as the male and @Frances.in.Frame was the female, while my wife was the photographer. That was fun! (instagram.com/p/DCBXyHDR3AS) There was also one group shoot I was doing with other photographers on a nude beach. Towards the end of the shoot, there was a stream crossing that was higher than expected, with about a foot (25cm) of flowing water and 15 feet (5m) across. The photographers were all getting their clothes wet and I asked if I could be naked instead. We were shooting a nude model and no one objected, so I stayed naked for the last 30 minutes of the shoot. I'm probably in some BTS shots of the other photographers.
