This is another set in which Rigmor and I tested lighting modifiers I have never used despite having had them lying around for more than twenty years.
This particular modifyer is square, white on the inside, and akin to a smaller beauty dish.

It is equipped with a grid, which creates a fairly straight beam of light that seems both hard and soft.

I shot the series with my 50mm ƒ0.95 lens to make the background as blurry as possible, and to create a "noir" feeling. Because of the large aperture of the lens, and the 300w modeling light, there was no point using flash for this series.
It’s an interesting modifier but not exactly a favorite.
I can see its use for certain things that require very selective lighting, like the kind you can get with a Fresnel, or for making edgy portraits.
