Dune walker (Fremen?)
Added 2024-11-16 15:00:07 +0000 UTCRoarie Yum on some petrified dunes in the middle of nowhere (White pocket in Arizona to be specific).
The very blue rocks are due to the very low light and, at the same time, very blue sky at an elevation of about 10,000 ft/3000m, which makes anything in shadow or semi-shadow turn blueish. Since the rock is reddish, it mixes into a fantastic hue of purple.
This is one of the images that did not make the cut for my book Venus On Mars.
PS:
As per my post three days ago (Nov 14), this is one of the places where we slept in a tent in temperatures below freezing while a larger flock of coyotes was howling nearby.
We were up pre dawn and out shooting after a quick coffee made on the Primus.
