2025-09-21 02:43:08 +0000 UTC🤣 Her host club impressions were overly aggressive to sell and would be bad Hosting, but the parody of it was so accurate lol calling them pickup artists meets car salesman was the most on-point description you could've ever said and now I have to go tell my friend about that. 😁 My friend gives me all the dirty deets about being a Host and yaaaa, they really do just try to woo the wallet out of your pocket. He said they kind of have to be pushy to get people in the door, but if you're too pushy when they're already a customer, it ends up backfiring. You have to make the customers fall in love with you first, or at the very least, make them want you, and then he said it turns into "aww, my watch broke" "omg, here's a 5,000 dollar watch to replace it sweetie!" So my friend, despite living in a very cheap studio apartment, he had a really nice sports car, had suuuuper nice clothes and accessories, and always ate at super nice restaurants because they were gifted to him. When I met him and he was still working as a host on the side, I never wished to be a man with a gregarious personality more in my life 😂 but for all the swindling people feel they do, the poor guys honestly torture themselves to make a liveable income, so it's not all glitz and glam. My friend got pancreatitis and some permanent damage to his throat that ruined his vocalist career because in order to drink enough (they got paid by the bottles that the customers order. They order a $300 wine, they get $150 payment. If they order a $10 cocktail, they got $5 basically) they have to force themselves to vomit 5-6 times a night sometimes more, because they weren't allowed to get sloppy drunk. But it's also competition based work, so the highest seller gets more customers and higher pay, so he said it turns them into piranhas trying to compete to drink the most, which meant getting sick more to drink more and sell more. Ugly cycle. Though he also said this is really a major concern for smaller clubs. The more upscale clubs don't have to fight so hard because they are paid more. Very odd to me that this is idolized in anime 😶
