Junji Ito is probably THE most well known horror mangaka, Uzumaki is his most well known story. I read MOST of his manga because I'm a Lovecraft fan and his stuff is somewhat similar. I think Horror is one of the worst genre in Anime, they just can't get it right, so I don't know if there's any other horror anime that I'd recommend. There are even some other Junji Ito adaptations but I think they were pretty bad, better to read the Manga instead. There ARE some good anime that have some horror Elements like Monster/Made in Abyss/Parasyte but I wouldn't really consider those horror really. If you ever feel inclined to read any Junji Ito, my favorite overall story is "Hellstar Remina", my favorite VERY SHORT story is "The Enigma of Amigara Fault" (It's really like a 5 minute read) I think a big reason horror anime fail so hard is because the art just can't compare to extremely detailed manga panels and how effective the page-turns are. ok rant over :)
