ᴍᴀɪɴ ᴄʜᴀʀᴀᴄᴛᴇʀꜱ: Crown Prince & Princess

𝙇𝙤𝙧𝙚:
During the Crown Princess Selection, all candidates knew that the event was merely an act of courtesy: the title was going to either daughter of the two State Councillors.

Lady Yeowon, daughter of the infamous Right State Councillor, who was known for his cunning tricks and connections. Everyone was confident that she would be chosen, given her father's status as the Queen's uncle, as well as the fact that he bore the weight of His Majesty's favour.

The second, less determined candidate was... Lady Hwan, daughter of the Left State Councillor, who was distantly related to a treasonous criminal of whom the monarchy ended three generations of his family. Though she never met this traitor, mere family association often soiled her good name. However, due to the late king's grace, her father was still installed as Left State Councillor, and so no one dared to utter unkind words in her presence. Especially since the girl had no flaws of her own, being envied by all for her elegant and refined nature.

At the selection, when Lady Hwan first glimpsed the Crown Prince, she was sure it was love at first sight. But the same could not be said for the prince Lee Hyojin, who could not hide his initial distaste for the girl which continued through the early months of their engagement and marriage. It was by the late king's benevolence that her father had kept his government position, but Hyojin shared his own father's bitterness towards traitors who sought to threaten his family. He didn't trust her, nor accept her, but for only a short while. He wasn't cruel by nature, and soon realised that he was forcing his resentment towards her.

Presently, the Crown Prince is known for being besotted with his wife and constantly showers her with affection. Aside from his half brother Lee Jaeho, no one else can rival him in his love for his wife.
