Projects and Behind the Scenes Update #2
Added 2019-03-21 10:17:48 +0000 UTCWhat has happened in March so far?
- First of all let me say Thank You! To every single one of you – March has seen the Patreon Subs go up from 112 to 130, so thanks for your continued trust and support and welcome to all new Patrons!
- New Sculpts/Prereleases for Patrons: During the first week of March I was working on a few NDA sculps that had backed up and I also invested some time into getting my own releases back on track. The Tales Of The Future range still has a couple of unreleased busts:

one of them ready for casting and 2 more still needing about 20% of work, like the male and female clone soldiers. I finished the male versions’ helmet this month:

but the female version still needs its rifle and potentially close combat knife or sword.
The Desert-Drifter is done and going off to the caster and the limited number of copies will be available and will be available to Patrons before it goes to public:

There is a second release that is also on it’s way to the caster, my Orc Anatomic Bust and will be available for Patrons first, as soon as I get copies back (forgot to take a picture of the finished piece, so here is a 90% done snapshot):

It will be available in limited numbers too, however I might make it a workshop miniature for my brush-control classes in the future and have reruns for that. - Golden Demons: A regular instalment in my year seems to be me catching the flu in March, with put me flat out of being able to get anything done for more than a week, so I am playing catch up on a bit of the content. It made me re-evaluate some short term goals, realising I only have a little more than 7 weeks left for Warhammer Fest UK. Golden Demons always have a special place for me, even though their meaning and importance in the community have changed and diminished, it still is a unique feeling to be up on that stage in what used to be the most influential painting competition. However I realised it is more important to me to make sure that the content I create for Patreon is useful and enjoyable than me doing well in competitions, so I will not sacrifice opportunities to create videos touching on interesting subjects as they come up for time to work on my entries. I will still work on Lieutenant Calsius and document it in video and PDF form, for example on how to create banners for your characters, freehands and composition, and thoughts on what makes a good GD entry, but I will not be sad if the piece itself isn’t finished by May 11th. Luckily there is always Warhammer Fest EU in October in Germany, so those entries will still make it to compete for the ugly resin statues, whether it’s going to be the UK or Germany.
- The next Patreon-only video will focus on this Neko Galaxy release, Candy Chan:

Revisiting female skintones and then later color composition and tattoos. They released a second rifle variant for it, which I find a lot better than the original, but they are in the process of printing and it will take a while for it to arrive, so I need to wait for that until I can finish the piece, but I will go ahead and start on the videos regardless. - What else can we expect in the near future? Another piece that was a spontaneous and fun idea is this squig:

Originally planned to star in patreon-videos about wetblending and quicker approaches to painting (which will still happen) turned into a conversion to fit a narrative better and will also result in a video discussing dioramas on very small available space and thoughts about composition of these small vignettes. - The next Youtube pre-release: I am currently recording the "How to win a Golden Demon" video and it will be up as a prerelease for Patrons within the next few days!
I am constantly trying to improve the Patreon so thanks again for any feedback. Great stuff. I like the upcoming busts especially because that's what I paint myself most of the time.
