do you mean each polygon is either completely black or completely white?

I've been diddling with this technique for a while, and ideally want to use it to drive individual pixel light values for a low-fi texture. Are you aware of any method to clamp the dots to either fill the UV island or not at all? In the end it would look like flatshading of multiple polygons, only driven by UV islands.

easy fix! use vector rotate node immediately after windowed coordinates set to 45

Great tutorial. 2 remarks. 1) In print the 'dots' are black, not white. So the values have to be reversed. That shouldn't be too difficult to implement. And 2) usually, the dots are aligned under a 45° angle. I guess that's not possible with the current nodes set-up. But perhaps an interesting follow-up tutorial?
