The blue vixen might become a bit more purple
Added 2017-02-24 08:59:56 +0000 UTCAfter showing the recent target render around a bit, it's been brought to my attention that I might run into some issues releasing the new animation in this form, this is mainly related to copyright, as the blue vixen in the animation is still a little too close to a certain Nintendo character. After getting some advice and doing a bit of research on character copyright, I had figured out that I needed to make a few more substantial changes than to just change some tattoos, eye color, and accessories, as it would still clash with the expression of a blue vixen in a bikini and loincloth. As making significant changes in the clothing would heavily delay the animation's release, the easier fix seemed to be a change of her base color. The best compromise I could find was to go with purple, as it's the closest color to her original tone. Apologies for this late change, but I need to make sure I'm not making myself vulnerable to any sort of copyright infringements, especially since this Patreon has grown quite large and the content has many eyes on it lately!
Due to this there's a slight knockback since I need to re-render frames worth 2 days, there won't be any significant delay to the animation though! Apologies for the changes again, but I hope they're understandable.

2017-02-27 20:49:05 +0000 UTCYep! I was actually done using Krystal for many years, as I'm not having much of a personal attachment to her either, apart from liking her design. The reason why I went back to her was to comply with the requests of other patrons. After I was given the same information that Mirceakitsune mentioned I thought it would work out, especially since there was an example given with another Patreon account where it actually did. Luckily I was given a heads up by my friends just in time and did my own research on the matter. It's possible that I might even use Zoe for the final animation and just keep the clothes, after doing a few tests with the purple version I can't quite say that I'm happy with the look of it, it looks a bit obvious that this is a cheap fix and doesn't really work that well with the overall color harmony anymore. Either way, I'll post an update on this soon!

There's a lot more whatsoever, especially with NSFW content. Aparently they've taken down entire imgur galleries and accounts that included their characters, I'd certainly be careful.

Note that I was actually done with Krystal for a while, but wanted to fulfill the requests of certain patrons. I'm sadly beginning to realize that I can't make everyone happy though, especially not when there's a risk like that involved. The RAADD connection will likely have to suffer, even though I can probably still say that it's inspired by it. I'm sure the creator will understand my position and why the changes were necessary though.

2017-02-26 00:03:50 +0000 UTCI agree with Ehren. Krystal is nice, but when you start making several thousand dollars a year on Krystal-adjacent art, I think there's need for concern. I know people working full time jobs that make less than what you appear to on this stuff. You can probably get away this for fan art and the occasional commission, but at this point you've arguably made a business out of it and prudence is warranted. I personally have no particular attachment to Krystal, so I welcome recolorations and new designs (or even completely new models if you want to go that direction).

2017-02-24 17:47:25 +0000 UTCI know, very true. Just saying that from what I've noticed, they only go after fan games and / or when the names of products and characters are used. Even they never went as far as "this character in an animation happens to look like ours, let's go after that". Who knows though... they are completely irrational and unreasonable people.

I still render her in the original design myself... would be legitimately shocked if anyone ever tried anything over that. If you want to be extra-safe though, that does totally make sense.

Not trying to sound mean, but it just doesn't make sense that you are stressing about changing her but trying to keep her similar at the same time. I'm guessing that would also mean dropping the RAADD connection, but your animations stand well on their own anyway! The point is she can't be recognizable and unrecognizable at the same time, right?
