– Connection is completely lost: Over the past six months, the agents may have changed their communication methods, and now Carla is isolated. She can’t contact her superiors and doesn’t know if her data is being received.
– Unreliable support from command: Mark knows an old cryptographic method to transmit data through social media or notes left at a library, but it’s an outdated channel, and it’s possible that command stopped monitoring it long ago. Mark uses it to reach out to a retired intelligence agent.
– Local agent in contact: An undercover agent is working within the Latino community in San Antonio, specifically with a gang network, but Carla doesn’t know exactly who it is. She can only hope her colleague will find a way to reach out or recognize her.
– A “mole” from the intelligence service has been embedded within "Alternative" for the past six months, tracking Mark, and eventually contacts him a month after Mark has been living as "Carla"—coming into the spa as a client.
