Enclave Status

I need to take a few days to re-outline enclave. It was originally slated to be about thirty chapters, but at the current pace it's looking closer to fifty, which is just too long for a single arc. So I need to figure out what I can cut and what I can keep. As tempting as it is to barrel ahead and keep pumping out chapters, I want to keep the level of quality high. I've also heard you guys on your feedback regarding Cairn's inner thought process on recent chapters, and will be editing that as well so it's a bit more consistent, though I still hold to the idea that he'd regress a bit, given his current circumstances. We'll be back on schedule in a few days.

I think that you should definitely fill out this enclave arc properly. If it is to be relevant in proceeding arcs then of course the chapters that create emotional bindings to it need to be made. If it is to be like the forest, part of a journey that is relevant only in relation to a few characters introduced during that time then cuts do need to happen

agreed, first arc was more gripping and the tempo was better. Parts of this arc almost felt like filler slice of life, which is fine... just needs a lot more chapters for you do get the dopamine conclusion fix. Otherwise fantastic story so far!

I think it's a good choice. The first arc was more gripping with the tempo it set. Hope you won't have to sacrifice/ cut to much of the story you had in mind.

Given how good your writing is already, I'd be happy with waiting if it means maintaining quality, and thrilled if through further outlining quality improves. I understand the regression as well, and it does make a great deal of sense. Thanks for keeping an ear open to feedback. Keep it up!

Take your time, quality over quantity! Tolkien rewrote his story a couple of times from scratch.

Deinos

Well, especially when the quality is this high.

If there's one thing I've learned as an author myself, over time, it's that speed beats quality, unless it's a very tiny amount of speed and a whole lot of quality. It's almost always the correct choice to write faster rather than better.

I understand the need to keep things condensed rather than draw them out. That being said, I hope you’ll consider putting some of the cut stuff into side stories, maybe released for your patreons if possible. For worldbuilding, if nothing else.

Take your time, I have really liked the recent chapters and I always love more chapters. But I can see why you would want to condense it.
