Almost done with the TWU2 comic! Sorry it took so long!

Turned out writing this comic was a lot harder than I expected. I really wanted to get all the details of the story right, not contradict myself, as well as set up future arcs. If you look at the way of LU story is supposed to develop from the writing side then this comic acts as sort of a knot, or a junction, where a lot of stuff converges.
Moreover, I've been really, really distracted by the events of the recent week. I'm of course talking about the invasion of Ukraine. Russia isn't exactly popular right now yet two of my protagonists are Russian (Yelena and Tatiana) with a third girl to join them this year.
Even though it's "just porn" I wasn't sure how I felt about everything as I had written it. Do I really want to continue with this angle, are people even interested in Russian characters atm, etc. Maybe I take this stuff more seriously than I should, but that's how I am.
Of course I know that a LOT of Russians don't support what's going on at all. And really I've tried to keep politics as disconnected from my work as possible. But I just felt I had to mention this and speak from the heart. I've made my decision though and I'm going to leave the story as is. Even though my heart breaks for Ukraine right now.
Anyway, it'll drop tomorrow. Don't worry about it.

2022-03-01 04:18:24 +0000 UTCYeah on one hand it feels really self-centered to even be talking about my stuff in comparison to what's a giant humanitarian and political crisis going on. But it also shows how it impacts all of us in different ways. Don't worry, Tati & Yelena aren't going anywhere. I do think I'm going to elaborate a little bit more on Yelena's past, though ;)

As far as some of the characters being Russian - it's clearly a fictional world, that seems to have both alternate history and also some maybe near-future aspects that are from a fictional version of the world. I mean, we don't have actual Tsarinas (maybe we'd all be better off if we did!) and Carter Industries and their tech isn't real. The girls are amazing but they're fiction and nothing about some of them being Russian or some of the plot taking place in Russia has to do with real Russia & Ukraine events. I would hate to see you suspend the story as you have it planned or sideline any of the characters (OK I'm biased I am absolutely #teamtatiana ). Keep making your story, make it the best it can be, and keep it in a world where Russia isn't being an aggressive monster.

It all SUCKS Plus being from the Czech knowing Ukraine isn't that far away, well it isn't the best feeling in the world (True there are people right now who have it much worse) Anyway, I think I can "put myself into your shoes" in a way. I started some time ago writing a... cyberpunk book (if I can call it) and the main female protagonist was supposed to be a Russian woman (I won't lie your Tatiana was from 50% role model for my main female character) and now I am thinking I should have to change it. You are right about the stuff that "it's just porn" and it's a work of fiction and your imagination and you are trying to separate reality from the world you created (as I am trying in my book) but I understand your concern. Not everybody would look upon it the same way and some people are and will be definitely judgemental and condemning. Truth be told I would be very sorry to lose Tatiana and Yelena because they are my favorite (but you know I am saying my support to Tati pretty loudly for some time now) but I would totally understand if you decide to do some changes.

2022-02-28 16:34:00 +0000 UTCI've been thinking about Yelena making a statement in-character. To explain who she is a bit better. But I think that connects everything to real life far too much. Gotta keep these worlds separate. But I appreciate that compliment man. I'll have you know that I actually did write a novel with the intent of having it published in the past, but it never got anywhere. It's really, really hard to find representation. So I've been putting my writing passion into this career which obviously so far has worked very well :D

Don't stray from your talents or passion! I was wondering how you felt about what's going on in the world, given your choice of character origins, thanks for that. Not like you did anything wrong. The timing sucks, the war sucks, everything about this whole situation sucks. Plus, you established this cast long before the current conflict got underway. Maybe just focus on side or back stories for a little while instead of the international plot? I don't know, there's no easy way around it, it's gonna make some people uncomfortable. It's hard worrying about porn when there's so much else going on in the world, but everyone needs a distraction, including your readers! Слава Україні! Героям слава! Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes!
