Donner B1 Review

Hello everyone! The Donner B1 review is ready. We selected a few nice 303 patterns to test drive it and The Intern even made a transcription of "Raga Bhairav" which is included in the video.

While programming the patterns we noticed something odd that we haven't seen mentioned elsewhere yet... If you've watched our How to 303 on a Syntakt video or you have studied our 303 Acid Sound Recipe you may already have a clue to what this is about ;)

The review doubles as a tutorial and we also used our little demo pattern from the 303 Sequencer from Hell video so you can directly compare the sequencing to the 303/TD-3.

While we demonstrate basically everything the B1 has to offer, be sure to also take a look at our B1 Cheat Sheet for a handy overview.

According to what a Donner representative wrote in the Gearspace forum, they apparently fixed the offset bug and implemented legato slides. They say they want to release the update in early April. https://gearspace.com/board/electronic-music-instruments-and-electronic-music-production/1379582-donner-b1-analog-bass-synthesizer-9.html

I ran into the offset bug within the first hour of playing with this. I don't expect any firmware fixes from this company, and it's souring my whole idea of possessing this piece of equipment further than today. :-/

Odd that they would offer it at such a low price on Amazon but not on their own webshop.

I think for the price it is very 303-ish and not having to use the SFH (Sequencer From Hell) is an added benefit. I think, the TB-03 (Boutique) also had an advanced mode (just dial in 16 steps with a knob), but that thing is more than double the price .. thinking .. thinking .. going to Amazon now .. €169 .. what?
