Some background info

Hello everyone! There's a lot happening here at Beatbunny Studio right now πŸ˜€ We're finalizing the script for Drum Machine 101 Episode 3 and we're filming a video on the newest RD-8 firmware update which included many of the suggestions from our review.

And thanks again for your support! ❀

Every cent goes directly into the making of our videos. This currently includes various new props for the stop motion segments as well as new colourful backgrounds. To fit more machines into a single shot we need much larger background plates. We have been conducting some tests on various materials - in the photo you can see two test swatches. It's not as trivial as it might seem, because the background needs to be flat without any wrinkles, very matte (so it doesn't reflect under the set lighting) but also fairly scratch resistant. And last but not least it has to look good with our colour grading. Our biggest nemesis are the rubber feet that are on practically every drum machine and synthesizer. These darn things rub off and stain the background plates, so every machine gets its own set of tiny little felt slippers while it's on set.

Mission accomplished! πŸ˜„

Thank you so much! We finally decided on medium-density fibreboard (MDF) with a thickness of 2.5 mm. With the size we need this provides a good rigidity while still being easy to carry and store. It's laminated on one side which is good for stability. On the bare side we apply gesso as primer and then the paint.

I am absolutely picturing miniature human slippers on drum machines, and it incredibly wholesome and cute

As a videographer I have so much respect for your cinematography! Can i ask what background material brand youve settled on? It would be great for product photography
