Monday transparency report

Hey guys, Happy New Year!  2025 sucked for Female Agent, but 2026 will have multiple releases.

This week my aim was to finish the new rewrite of the Max sex scene which – as of about 2026 PM – is just finished.  🥳🥂

Like I said in the last report, Female Agent sex scenes tend to be really hot right up until the actual sex.  At which point:

It’s really lame, I hate it, I wanted to fix it if I could.

I don’t wanna say I’ve cracked the code, that everybody’s going to think the Max scene is the hottest thing anyone (or even just me*) has ever written.  Necessarily, at this point in the story, it’s quite a vanilla sex scene.

But I can say it’s really different, maybe the shape of things to come.  I pushed myself to get into the characters’ heads and figure out why they’re fucking and why it’s hot.  And I did something totally new with sex scene game mechanics – with more choices, and skill checks more about boundaries and inhibitions instead of roll a 7 to inflict an orgasm!

Current status and next steps

The rewriting is now done, with three caveats:

(1) there are some stub branches that need to be filled out (e.g., in the current sex scene, only the “no condom” branch is written – the alternate branch with protection needs to be worked into the code).

(2) there are alternate branches to the sex scene that I want to include (basically a few different positions/locations), but these aren’t necessary for the next release, and can cannibalise the current draft (since these are the same characters and broadly similar emotional beats, just different places/positions for extra flavour and choices).

(3) there’s some “connective tissue” that needs to be added throughout (i.e. there are some points where the player is supposed to be able to do things in different orders, but that’s not currently implemented in the test version).

But it’s largely done.  Writing is always the big fucking bottleneck, so this is a big deal.

Other things that need to be done:

So tomorrow I will shit all over her to-do list as my main priority, then get a playable version out to the alpha testers for feedback and improvement.  This week I’ll aim to create a detailed checklist of remaining tasks before release, and post it like I did with the Halloween release so you can see how close it is.

But I’m too fucking tired tonight because I am 100.  I’ll get straight back on it in the morning.  🦀❤️‍🔥

* what is the hottest thing I’ve ever written?  🤔 i think it might be miss wet t-shirt at Oceana

Okay, I think the followup question is: Now how does this scale to the work across the entire game? If this scene took X number of months and takes up maybe 1-2% of the total story (if that), is it feasable to scope this type of multi-nodal branching writing to the bulk of the game? Additionally, will doing these types of branching scenes end up compounding as we get deeper into the story and player choice leads to more branches? I'm not trying to be a killjoy, I'm just thinking about this realistically. If this sequence took 3 months, and it's about 1% of the game, that means the game will be finished in ... 25 years. Now obviously that's not workable. So the question goes back to: what are you going to do in the workflow to make it so a scene takes, say, 15 days. Which, napkin math, would mean the game would be done in 4 years?

The mission has failed. Abort the mission. I repeat: abort the mission. The priority target, DEVILFISH, is no longer in Bangkok. We have reports that he moved after all these years. Send the agent back to her routine office job!

I think the whole Oceana main mission was the one of the hottest things you ever wrote, though the entire hanging out in a club mechanism could use a lot of work to make that sexy.

Multiple releases? So, maybe in six months we finally get a scene that already existed, only packed with more super fun writing, and five months after that we get about three minutes of material to show off a tiny new RPG element? Cool. Cool.

Sounds like you've had a mega working period! Remember to take SOME time for you to decompress in there too, we don't want you having a mental meltdown.

Happy new Year! I'm already very curious how it will look/ read. I'm curious to see how things will change with that new dynamic (sex scenes and otherwise). And remember: no more working yourself even half to death! 🖖 Live long and prosper (properly).
