I worked on the "Failed Operator" path today. The idea is that the PC can fail to make it as a field agent, and be retrained as an analyst, which we thought was a cool potential backstory for your agent.
Today I had an experience that demonstrates a big improvement in our new dev process. I had the idea to create a Failed Analyst/Really Failed Operator lifepath, wherein the PC fails to make the grade as either an analyst or an operator, and takes a job in admin support instead.
"CIA typist goes undercover as a prostitute" is a super hot story, and one that I definitely want the game to support in the future. But it's not part of the current sprint, so – instead of working on it because I was interested in the idea, which was my natural inclination – I made a note of it, and stayed focused on the task that was actually in the Trello.
Keeping focused on critical tasks is a really big productivity improvement, which I really think is going to make the dev cycle less fucking glacial in 2019.
Next dev day is Friday. I really can't wait to get back to work on the game – it feels so exciting to me right now! Humble thanks to all Patrons for making this whole thing possible.
