A solution to my predicament!
Added 2024-10-05 19:13:09 +0000 UTCThank you all so much for your feedback and thoughts on my books being sold illegally. I believe I have a good solution - but I also don't want to change anything until I hear for you first! So, here is the solution I'm considering.
The downloads for certain projects (e.g. The practical Pocket Book of... insert title here) will still be available, however before being given access to the files, users have to fill out a short form. I will review the answers and grant access. This will only be for a probationary period - after X amounts of months, the form will no longer be required for that patron any more. This way they can still get the files even if they just signed up, and there's incentive to stick around so they won't have to fill out the form anymore. Also, keep in mind that this will only be certain downloads - most of my downloads will NOT require the questionnaire.
I think this will really help reduce the headache I'm having with lazy sellers. BUT, I want to know your thoughts. Is this a fair solution? If not, please tell me why in the comments so I can consider other things.

Ok so we now have 99% voting yes, and less than 1% voting No. I'm going to start building this functionality and I'll let you all know when it's live. Maybe some of you can help me test it? Lol

I was so impressed with your work, that I immediately joined you on Patreon. I continue to support you here many years later because I think that you should be supported and compensated fairly for all you do. It is rotten that people think they are entitled to something that they did not create. I think filling out a form is a small price to pay for access and if it gives you a little protection from these leeches, all the better! Thanks for everything you do!
