This is Where the Story Begins

I've mentioned a story, characters, and world that I created - inspired by the Wizarding World - complementing it - yet being completely original. Many of you seemed very excited to learn more, which makes me very excited to share. I don't know how often I will make posts like these, but here is where the story begins...

On the corner of Hemlock Lane stood the crooked silhouette of an aged and cracking mansion. It was engulfed by a permanent shadow; even the sky above was a shade darker than the rest. Cobwebs and dust gathered at the corners of barred windows where not even spiders would reside. A weathered cobblestone walkway weaved through the courtyard’s dried shrubberies, and eventually disappeared into the undergrowth. Children and grownups alike would cross to the opposite side of the street when passing by, for they knew better than to get too close. The mansion was occupied however, not by a ghost or a witch as most would assume, but by a man and a woman and thirty-some children. The rusting metal sign on its black iron gate read Gowerly & Crude’s Home for Unwanted Children.
