Chapter 118 : Spatial Element

« Chapter-117 | Index | Chapter-119 »

Sora glanced at the struggling Demon Race player, recalling his bold plan and the motivation driving him toward such an extreme path.

The Dark Elf who had killed him initially had done so effortlessly. To manipulate his powerful body with such ease, he must have wielded a supreme skill related to telekinesis, honed to a high level of mastery.

Recalling how a Spirit Race player had nearly ended him, Sora recognized that neglecting his mental defenses in the group battle had been a critical error. However, relying on [Peak Meditate] during combat wasn’t ideal either, as the deeply distracted state it induced left him less responsive to immediate threats.

Thinking back on the Dragonborn who had reflected his attack and the speedster Dragonborn he had defeated with Kara’s [Time Acceleration], Sora was reminded of just how formidable the top elite players were. No competitors were to be underestimated; each seemed to have their own innate skills, supreme abilities, or honed skills taken to the limit, similar to Kara.

Kara, who was weak when he met her, had already become someone he looked up to. She had pushed her skills set in a single direction, mixing everything in a single path focusing on extreme growth. Her [Time Space] was the perfect skill to train her Swordsmanship and mastery over life force, and her control over time pushed her fighting prowess to a whole new level.

An idea emerged in his mind. Something so ambitious that people would laugh at his face if he dared talk bout it. Shaking his head, he dismissed his thoughts and focused on his current goal.

Driven by an intense desire to grow stronger and aware of the danger posed by the other elite players, he decided to push his own supreme abilities further.

Sora activated [Blink] and appeared beside the demon race player, who was desperately trying to escape from Emily's clone. In one swift motion, he summoned a dozen clones, each taking position to surround the demon.

The demon struggled, as Sora’s clones tightened their grip on his arms and shoulders. As the clones pushed him closer to the storm, the player desperately tried to pull back, his heels digging into the ground.

Sora leaned in and said, “If you help me with an experiment, we’ll let you go. What do you say?”

The player narrowed his eyes, suspicion thick in his voice. "What do you take me for? Some kind of animal?"

Sora, caught off guard by the demon’s words, hesitated, unsure how to respond. After all, his intentions weren’t exactly noble. Emily, stepping in as her clone disappeared to scout, answered for him.

"You're as good as dead anyway; might as well give yourself a chance to live, don’t you think?"

The demon hesitated, his teeth clenched, glaring at them with eyes full of hatred. Finally, he spat, "Fine. What do you want?"

A few moments later, Sora and the others watched closely as the demon cautiously followed his instructions, testing the storm’s properties. They noticed that the storm dealt damage that seemed to increase gradually over time, manifesting as elemental attacks.

Interestingly, the storm only affected the parts of the demon's body directly in contact with it, sparing the rest.

Satisfied with the experiment, Sora's group released the demon, who bolted away as fast as his injured body would allow. Turning his focus to the storm, Sora immediately began testing the its effects on himself. Starting with his hands, he cautiously reached into the storm, “testing the waters.”

He was just about to plunge his hands back into the storm when Emily intervened.

“What are you doing? That storm’s going to tear up your hands over and over if you keep that up,” she said, watching him with concern.

“I’m building resistance,” he replied, a hint of irritation in his voice as she seemed to really love interrupting him. “And I want to try something.”

Emily raised an eyebrow, not entirely convinced but stepping back, giving him room to continue his strange experiment.

Various elements struck him in turns, barely tickling him as his resistance seemed to almost nullify this level of damage.. Despite the mild discomfort, he was fine, observing how his body reacted to the different elements, especially those he already had high resistance to. The effects were minor, but he could feel the potential if the damage kept on increasing.

After enduring Water, Wind, Lightning, Fire, and Earth, he expected the cycle to repeat—until he felt a powerful force tearing through his hands. Instinctively pulling back, he stared in surprise at the large tear on his skin, revealing an element he had no resistance to and zero mastery over.

He sensed the lingering traces of energy and realized the nature of the force that had torn through his hand.

'Spatial element... I've always dreamed of using this,' he thought, eager to learn how to use this new element.

Over the next few minutes, he carefully observed the storm, noting how the damage intensified with each cycle. He methodically quantified the damage, confirming that if he left the storm for a short period, the intensity would reset. Satisfied with his findings, he felt ready to move on to the next phase of his experiment.

Looking at Kara and Emily, he said, "I'll be right back."

Emily looked stunned, while Kara gave a knowing smile as he stepped fully into the storm.

'Kara, can you hear me?' he asked, testing their connection. When her response came through, he felt a wave of relief, reassured that their Soul Link allowed communication even within the storm.

Feeling the familiar Water-type damage, he ignored it and focused on his surroundings.

Inside, he could see a chaotic scene with an overwhelming amount of mana was surrounding him with his eyes showing elements with a a different color.

Elements seemed to emerge at random, each one unique, refusing to mix with other elements. Yet, despite the apparent chaos, these elements followed a strange sequence, each one waiting for its turn before surging forward to attack. It was as if the storm had its own rhythm, forcing each wild element to strike him one at a time.

Having taken his surroundings, Sora tried to control the lightning elements around him, being extremely familiar with this element, as his focus had always been on lightning and earth elements. He liked the movement skill he had developed with the lightning element and the various uses he had for the earth element.

As Sora attempted to draw the lightning around him under his control, he felt an unexpected resistance, as if the storm itself opposed his will.

Determined, he released his own mana, summoning lightning and guiding it toward the surrounding lightning elements, seeking to "coax" them into submission. With his formidable command over lightning, he was confident his attempt would either work or simply fail with no consequence.

But something inexplicably strange occurred. His own lightning slipped from his grasp. The foreign lightning thread had extended devoured his own lightning, and shot back toward him, striking his outstretched finger—the very place he had first released it.

Sighing in relief at his decision to test the lightning element first, he noted that the damage was minimal, like most elemental attacks he was resisting so far.

As he sensed the faint impacts of the earth element against him, he focused intently, anticipating the incoming strike of the space element coming next, hoping to gain a deeper understanding of its nature.

When the presence of the space element finally reached him, he felt the difference immediately. Its energy was razor-sharp, as if slicing cleanly through the storm itself.

The sheer instability of the space element prevented it from forming a stable shape. As it moved toward him, Sora cautiously reached out, channeling his mana to 'catch' it. Immediately, a sharp, ripping pain cut through his hand, forcing him to withdraw.

Not willing to give up, he continued to experiment, gradually learning to endure the sensation and coax the space element to react to his touch.

Instead of forcing control, he shifted to guiding it, sensing how it resisted any typical manipulation. Every time the space energy attacked, he braced for impact, then slowly channeled his mana around it, trying to create a stable path for it to flow without backlash.

Remembering how he had first attempted to recreate the other elements, he smiled, as it was exactly the method he was using when he kept on failing. However, this time, he had no idea how to recreate Space element.

Bored between each interaction with this element, he had an idea to relieve boredom.

Releasing the five elements he had high proficiency in, he sent them to attract more elements in order to temper his body further.

Feeling the elements react to his attempts and rebel, his hand was bombarded by the five elements. Feeling the tickling, he felt that this was probably not enough to train his resistance, as the attacks were too weak.

Releasing more elements, he increase the area he affected with his elements, with hundreds of threads reaching out of his body to attract all the surrounding elements except for the [Space] element.

Alternating between trying to forcefully control the elements and mastering the [Spatial Element], Sora was entirely focused.
