Style Experiments

My style is always gradually changing, maybe you could call it drifting over time, because I'm never really satisfied with any of my old work, so every new picture is a chance to discover a better way of drawing.

Lately I've been practicing more realistic features and proportions, accurate anatomy and an increasing amount of detail, but I'm starting to miss the more cartoonish and animated stylization I was doing 1-2 years ago.

For example, this kinda stuff:

I went back to the drawing board this week to work on face styles, with a goal of blending realistic and cartoonish features to find a balance that... I dunno, hits the sweet spot between cute and sexy?

I experimented with changing up things like eye size and shape, nose styles, jawlines, mixing and matching those minor variations to see what looks better.

First face, didn't have a character in mind, I was just aiming for maximum cuteness with bigger eyes, smaller chin and nose, heavy blush and freckles.

This one is Kim. I started doing a rough sketch of a full body pose for her:

A hair-framed portrait of Cassie, emphasizing angular shapes:

Pushing the big eyes even further here. Young Penny perhaps?

This one is Tess I guess:

Comparing this style of blank gradient eyes to shiny pupils, I kinda like both styles:

With experiment #7 I tried out 3 different faces on the same head:

Face 7A is full-on cartoon princess:

7B takes a step towards realism with smaller eyes and mouth, higher nose with flatter tip, more realistic eye shape, but still pretty stylized:

Face 7C – not sure what to call this style, western comic? but I think it's my favorite of these 3 attempts:

I continued this sketch down through her torso:

...and slapped a cock on her because that's what I'm supposed to be doing around here after all... planning to finish this one as a full color pinup:

Simplified the face style, got carried away with hair details:

Pushing the angular shapes even more here for a Felicia face:

Wider face shape, sort of looks like a half-elf or other half-human hybrid like maybe a mermaid:

One of my old OCs Ravisandra the elf cleric, who doesn't know any healing spells but is very good at enchanting magical buffs to enhance herself:

Thessaly looking roguish:

A futa country farmgirl that you will be seeing more of soon:

I want to keep going on some of these faces, building them out into full body pinups:

Last one of this batch:

If you have a favorite style out of this group, I would love to hear which you like best, so I can make those faces into full body pinups, and also use that style more often on future pics.

Thanks for being here and thanks for keeping me drawing! •ᴗ•

I think the faces look really awesome. I love the juxtaposition of the cute cartoon-like face with the more realistic muscular body. It makes for a really interesting style. Glad that you are having fun experimenting.

I really like this particular style quite a bit! It looks just like the kind of style you'd see in a Disney film! Would love to see more of this!
