This may be something that assumed to be done but it just seem like she was only interested in him coming back to school.

These family things happening in front of my eyes. It's too cute. I do think you're right. During that whole awkward exchange, I was waiting for her to ask if Minoru was okay or even wanted to return to school. All she had to say was "You need to live your own life." It makes me wonder if there's something more going on than just him taking time off from school.
