Hello. Real talk here today I hope you take some time to read what I have to say.
TLDR (Too Long Didn't Read): The next duo set will mark the day that I'm going to start ramping up the quality of my work as much as I can and also trying to make more duos, trios and other groups if possible. However, I really hope that things get stable (or better) in subscriber numbers.
Characters:
Houki Shinonono | Infinite Stratos
Masumi Kamuro | Classroom of the Elite
Nico Robin | One Piece
Today I've spent about 7 hours testing something which actually is part of a long test that I've been doing. I made some sets in the past days (requests and not requests) with a certain workflow that I've mentioned. They weren't published yet, they aren't much different from what I'm usually doing. Maybe slightly closer to original style in a few characters and in other situations it only helped me to make more images than usual.
However after testing a lot today I've been able to make something that I can consider indeed an upgrade to my quality (not applied to these wallpapers). I'm still working on 2 sets today. I hope that I can work on 2 more. These wallpapers aren't done with these workflows, they are done the same way as I usually make wallpapers.
The sets that I'm currently working I've looked pixel by pixel and line by line and I decided for the most ideal "style". I really tested a lot. And with the tests I also made up my mind about what should I be aiming for.
NOTE: there will be a bunch of sets done with the old workflow yet, what I'm making today will take some days to be here on Patreon yet.
While it seems that copying other digital artists style and outputing dozens of images in low resolution seems to be the most profitable method of making money. I've looked through these fields to realise that I can still be unique and achieve more of what actually made me what I am today.
From the start what I always wanted to do is to be satisfied with what I produce. I would be lying if I said I'm happy on making every character that people asks me. Specially if there are more and more limitations imposed by either specifications or the models. And on top of that it seems that most people don't like the characters from requests. I know there are plenty of people who do like them too, but I'm talking about majority.
I'm limited by every side I look. It's either by being worried with rules, specifications, judgement and even software. With this in mind, I'm still deciding what to do about this.
However, with my head outside of requests, focusing on some sets that I have at least a small degree of freedom of choice. Be it by popular demand from polls or "likes". This is when the best development of my skills comes.
So I found again in my mind a way to pursue what I need to pursue as an artist. (Yes artist, I won enough challenges and competitions without AI to be at least a bit proud of myself).
However, I'm not the best at dealing with social media. I'm not the best at dealing with people. I'm not even the best at dealing with myself. So this might be my curse and my end.
I've been dealing with many problems in regard to what should I be doing to keep people subscribed or new people coming that would be at least enough to maintain the numbers. My phylosophy was basically to keep consitency and aiming to improve, while also trying to improve the user experience when it's on my side to control.
The part of "aiming to improve" I must say that is pretty hard after hitting certain walls and sometimes we want to go around the wall, but I realised now that I should learn how to climb these walls. And that's what actually what made me an artist in the first place. I want to make good stuff.
I'm not even asking to be the most popular, but at least to keep what I've built, If this new mindset doesn't help with at least keeping me in a good place on the internet, then I will start to run out of hope for sure.
So these 2 sets that I'm working, one of them is a DUO, this is the hint of when you will start to notice some changes. HOWEVER, duo sets are still inferior in quality compared to solo sets and I'm still figuring some stuff while doing it, I actually was doing this duo set as a test. I will try from now on to really improve what I'm doing aiming to make the anime-like style even more evident while actually adding my touch where it's possible. I will surely do mistakes along the way, but the more I risk, the higher is the reward.
If you got yourself to read until here, congratulations and thank you.
