Update January 2024 (and a little present)

Hello all!

Long span of time between updates again. I know, I know, I'm a butt. No excuses this time, I've just been enjoying the last of my post-surgery time off before going back to work. Not to say I haven't been writing, though. I'd say this chapter is about... ugh... I wanna say 80-85% done? It's another whopper, is probably gonna be close to 20k words. I did ask on Discord if I should split the chapter into two, make it more digestible, have something for y'all to read a little sooner. My question was met with a resounding "NO" from those Patrons. So. Big honkin' chapter coming your way very soon. I hope. That is the goal, anyway. I ended up having to add a lot of extra stuff towards the end to fix some pacing issues, and I'm still in the process of that. However, by not splitting it the chapter almost feels like it's own self-contained little story arc, which I think is kinda cool.

Now, I know it's not my usual fare, but I've written up some of my supernatural experiences in Far North Queensland, Australia. Except for the one time I think I encountered a yowie (Australian bigfoot) in the rainforest, but left it out because I wasn't really 100% sure. I really love horror content, but I should preface this one with 'it's written in my usual style', so it's a wee bit spoopy and more just written to be fun. I've been watching a lot of paranormal and unexplainable stories on YouTube the last few weeks, and like I said, I love horror stuff. I've even got an idea for a horror story, but we'll see how that one pans out. I dunno. I'm kinda bad at getting stuff started, always have been. Once I get over that initial hurdle things are cool and generally progress pretty fast, but it's getting there that's difficult. It's also difficult to switch tracks sometimes in my brain, which doesn't help. Stupid ADHD... How in Naga's name I managed to finish my degree with this crap I'll never know.

In my private life, things have been progressing much the way they always do. Like I said, the post-surgery recovery has gone exceedingly well; I'm up to building up the strength in my hands again, which is great. No more numbness, no more pain, no more stranger-in-the-sheets. It's great. Also, last week saw the launch of a tabletop game I've really been looking forward to: Warhammer: The Old World. Yes, Ben be talking about Warhammer again. To paraphrase a meme I saw a few weeks ago: "It's my ADHD, and that means I get to pick my hyper-fixation." It made me laugh. But! Yes, Old World is out! An old-school style of rank-and-flank fantasy miniature game, harkening back to the good old days of the classic Warhammer Fantasy Battles. Well, I say 'good old days', but anyone that actually remembers trying to play during said old days remembers what a messy clusterfuck the game was by the end of its life. From what I've looked into about the rules, it seems like they've fixed a lot of the older problems the previous iteration of the game had and streamlined the flow of the game quite a bit, and I'm super excited to try it out. My brothers and I are still getting our armies together, so I haven't actually played a game yet. I'm working on a High Elves army, and fortunately I had a lot of old models lying around and didn't have to buy many, so I've included some art the incredibly talented MercyArt did up of one of the characters in my army; the Shadowstalker, Ioriela, that acts as the general in my tournament sized 1250 point army. I love it to bits, and want to share. Hopefully soon I'll be able to afford getting it printed, framed, and up on my wall. Yee! She's also in my larger 2k point army, but I prefer to have a bigger unit as a General for such games, and use a High Elf Prince on a Gryphon that I converted. He's pretty badass looking, if I do say so myself, and Ioriela stays in as a Lieutenant, too. I also have a big fuck-off dragon, because what's a fantasy game without dragons? Take the venom out of a cobra, and what are you left with? A belt. That's how it feels. Lol.

Okay, enough rambling from me. I have work to do. Wish me luck!

Thanks for all of your continued support, and Nagaspeed, friends!
