Preview/Update 97

Le gasp! We’ve hit 97! ‘97 was a great year, ya know. Final Fantasy VII came out in ‘97. Good times. Yes, I’m old. Have a look at a new scene in the next Blazing Trinity chapter and leave this old man to his rambling...

Writing-wise, I’m about half done with the draft of this BT chapter. It’s nowhere near where I want it to be, but most of the rest of this chapter is just action, so I’m hoping it won’t take me long to finish. I’ll do up some polls for next month’s Dark chapter sometime this week. As for my derpy little 40k warmup story? I think I’ll have another chapter-length thing done soon. Ish. Again, no promises on that one. I did name it, though! It’s officially titled A Matter of Pride, and I’ll be posting the first chapter on Fanfiction sometime this month. Because hey, why not, right?

IRL, I’ve been getting really into that Warhammer: Underworlds game. It’s nice to finally have something to do with these minis, rather than just paint them. I’m actually very happy with the painting I did on the weekend, to the point where I was actually looking at the minis going “Holy shit, did I paint that!?” So I’ve clearly been advancing my skills. It’s amazing how much is muscle memory, given just how fast I picked this all back up again. Like, I’m shocked that I’m better now, with a crippled painting-hand, than I was nearly a decade ago when I stopped. Okay, I’ll stop tooting my own horn, and giggle that autocorrect changed ‘tooting’ to ‘rooting’. I swear I’m an adult...

I’ve been watching a lot of old horror movies lately, too. Anything and everything can help with your writing, the trick is to be like a sponge. I got through the first Friday the 13th, Kubrick’s The Shining, and the first Exorcist all over the last few weeks, and so far The Shining is really the only one that’s left a real impact on me. I may talk a little more about them in the vlog, actually... but next on the list is the old Nightmare on Elm St movies. I loved those as a kid, I hope they’re as good as I remember.
