You guys are awesome! Just 4 days after launching we're already past the first milestone. That means I'll be taking The Oath of Painted Wood! *fanfare*
Knights ($8 patrons) will get to vote on which picture I color next. Stewards ($4 tier) get to see the colored version, and Squires ($2) will still see the B&W lines.
The next milestone at $200 involves a choice between two options: more sketches or more words. I'm thinking the best way to handle this is to let the Knights vote at the start of each month, and let the choice reset each month so it doesn't stay locked in forever.
I'm structuring the milestone goals kind of like a talent tree in an RPG, where some tiers involve a choice, and others are straight-upgrades to my posting frequency.
The total pledge amount will dictate how many "time slots" I have available each month, and Knights will have the ability to vote on which "Oaths" get plugged in. For example, at $200 I'll have 2 time slots to fill and you'll have 3 potential options to vote on:
The Oath of Painted Wood | +1x extra color picture next month
The Oath of Many Pages | + 400% post frequency (weekly pinups) next month
The Oath of Naughty Words | + write 4000 words (1k/wk) of a story next month
The baseline without the Oaths is going to be somewhere around 1 - 3 B&W pictures a month, so that gives you a lot of control over where I invest my time. For example if you think my coloring is meh but my writing pushes your buttons, I could be producing 5 - 7 B&W pictures alongside 4,000 words of story each month at the $200 level.
At the $300 milestone, we'll unlock an additional time slot, and more / better Oath options to vote on. Maybe something like working on pages of an ongoing comic, or scenes with multiple characters. Let me know what you think, too complicated? Too awesome? Can you tell I'm nerding the fuck out over this?
Thanks again, you guys rock :)
