Waifu Tournament: Fighters & Mages — Opening

Ladies & Gentlemen!

I, koikoi, once again, will be your host for a fresh new tournament!

The first round is the most decisive and will give the best chances for the winning side to be victorious. (Matches will start in 10 minutes).

This phase is about wizardry and swordsmanship. All contestants must fight using these methods, be it their expertise or not.

After the end of the tournament we will have a pack with all the contestants. But the further they go, the more images they will have.

But there is more! The side with more wins against the opposing team will have a bit more images too.

This tournament will always place a Fighter vs. Mage dispute, but it's very possible that a Fighter vs. Fighter or Mage vs. Mage battle happens. If there is more eliminated from one side than the other, it will happen. However, only a battle of Fighter vs. Mage will count to that score.

The themes of each match will change. The first one is the classical fight between them.

NOTE: This tournament has nothing to do with each characters universe and is completely different of any thing that is happening in their worlds. Similarities are only coincidences. They can happen since we picked fighters and mages.

The contestants were all chosen from your suggestions. It's varied and it will surely have favorites. But this is actually aimed to be a bit more fair than previous tournaments. The ratio between games and anime is very one-sided because of how everything went.

Only 8 from each category were picked. I've went through all characters and checked their nature and models. I've removed some obvious favorites, old winners or well positioned characters in past tournaments.

I've then randomized a bit, but also tried to balance within what was reasonable to each side. A few characters were replaced because the models weren't good enough.

Today we will start with 2 battles. And we will carry out with 2 battles every day until we complete this round. Then there is a brief rest period and we start the next round.
