About big collections and downloads [Possible WIP?]

Hi. I want to discuss some things about downloads of big packs.

For starters, I always try to improve on what I can, but in the past months, I only got people presenting bad ideas and being obnoxious about stuff.

I'm all against Patreon being super bad to scroll through the posts so I have 2 ideas that will help you download the files. One is super annoying to me and the other I think it's fine after I finally finish it.

Let's start with the fine for me:

I can list the links for you to download the files directly, without needing to open the post and with that I can make a list wherever you prefer. Be it here in a post or maybe google docs sheets or even a text files. This will still give you some trouble because you will still have to do many clicks if you don't use a download manager or something. However, this is only accessible to patrons and it's the most fast and safe option for me.

The second is:

Placing the files in some service or in big chunks that will be downloadable in a single post. Either of these are SUPER bad for me to do for anything before June. I started gathering the files and after hours of work, it was about 0,1% of all files. Not to mention that I have to go through all older sets and export them as JPG because most of them are in .PNG.

If you want to have an idea, an extra post has about 12MB with JPG, in PNG it can have around 200-250MB. Adding the non-extra sets that has about 100MB we can have 300-350mb for each sets (some are bigger some are smaller). But if you think of it 100 sets will be near 30GB (I have waay way more than 100 sets, you can add a 0 safely to this). And we are only talking about file size, imagine having to deal with more than 2000 zip files.

Now all this makes me wonder how much people value my work. Every time there is people pushing me for something and yet I didn't raise my prices in a long while and I'm still always trying to improve.

So I wonder how many people would still be complaining if I did the first option. Because with that I'm saving you some time while not taking super long for me (it still takes long, but not that long). The first option I wouldn't even show with a post with everything at once, it's just too much. But at least it's doable. Remember that I'll have to access like... 2500 posts (I'm already not counting polls and some info).

For me, the only reason to make it easier to download, is because Patreon is buggy to scroll. Because otherwise I feel like the price I charge is a very fair price for "eat what you can".

Just the thought of having this issue makes me want to give up.

Hey K!

Original Gimp

Thank you, I may try yet to make something for people new here to catch up to some older posts though. It's also a good way to find those characters that only appeared once or have no collection yet.

Koikoi

Thank you 😊😊

Koikoi

yeah i can see your point i was just saying because ive seen other people use it and wasnt sure if it was a good idea or not

I would highly advise against mega as you need a subscription to download stuff from there after a certain amount! And it's really not much mb you can download for free ... And me and I guess also the most of the others won't be happy to pay extra only to download the sets.

HelloMan

Same here. And I agree, the Full (First and Last) Name of the Character and the Name of the Anime/Game (in English) she is from would be very important, as the file names doesn't have all that information.

HelloMan

Go with the fine for you will be better, if you happy, atleast i happy too

Personally for me, I prefer keeping it as is. I think it's really simple to just download each set from the links provided here on patreon since I've kept up with daily posts for a long time now, although I can see how it could be annoying for somone who just joined. I really appreciate all the new sets taking up less space as opposed to the older ones that took up over 100 mb. This way takes up less storage and I really appreciate it. Thank you koikoi and keep up the great work 👍.

WickedLinkss

I think that for new sets it's easier, but useless until they become old. My main problem is with what I already posted. But I think I'll do what I said with the links.

Koikoi

Yes, that work is long, but can be done. Even though it's a lot of links you would be able to ctrl+f to get what you want.

Koikoi

Thanks for the info, I personally wouldn't use MEGA unless it offers me something that Dropbox doesn't. But I would prefer the option to keep things here.

Personally, for me, the current method of downloading files is fine: ZIP in posts. Other creators that I follow and support tend to use RAR and MEGA files, both of which are somewhat difficult for me to handle. I have to look for third-party tools to open RAR files or convert them to a file format that I can access more easily. MEGA: has some internet networks that I use on a daily basis that have some configuration that prevents me from accessing the site. I can access Google Drive and OneDrive without any problems.

Having direct links listed in a single doc is fine for me as long as I can identify which character and series it is from. Thanks for your hard work delivering all the content every day 🫶

DeathMagnetic

i have an idea but im not sure if its a good one or not maybe try uploading the files to mega and putting all the different sets into a folder for the characters it goes to and with each new set that you come out with upload it to the mega folder
