Ave Xia Rem Y Q&A 1
Added 2021-09-29 12:00:04 +0000 UTCThis is something I have been meaning to do for a while. Occasionally, I’ll answer questions here, on Royal Road, and Spacebattles.
I thought it’d be nice to compile some of those in one post. Feel free to drop questions in the comments.
Q1: How does one determine the method for creation of a pill [Heartening Phoenix Pill] like this - trial and error seems too risky. You would explode if you tried to use a phoenix feather wrong. not to mention expensive.
A: Trial and error over thousands of years. Those who survive get to pass down their findings.
It was as dangerous as it sounds. More so, even.
Bonus Sidenote: Google “Fluorine Martyrs”. Chemistry is hardcore.
Q2: What does Elder Xue mean when she says it was lucky the other Elders did not notice Liu Jin during the Selection Exam?
A: If the other Elders had noticed Liu Jin, they'd have tried to take him for themselves. That would not necessarily have been a position Liu Jin would have enjoyed. Depending on the Elder, it'd have been uncomfortable or downright dangerous.
it is not that they'd go out of their way to hurt Liu Jin. However, no one else would allow him the combination of freedom and authority Elder Xue has given him. Short of Elder Xun, Xue is the best Elder Liu Jin could have been scouted by.
Elders on Feng Shang's side would be naturally troublesome for Liu Jin since Feng Shang likes how things are on the Storm Dragon Empire just fine. There would always be an inevitable clash of goals, and that always has little chance of working out well for Liu Jin.
In terms of compatibility, among the Elders on Lord Feng Shang's side, Liu Jin would get along best with Elder Chang and worst with Elder Fa.
Q3: Is Bu Jing a Core Disciple? Also, is he the best pill maker on Feng Shang’s side?
Bu Jing is technically not a Core Disciple.
I never get around to mentioning this, but Bu Jing is an Inner Disciple who never saw much reason to buy his promotion. He's not the most skilled pill-maker on Lord Feng Shang's side, but he is the most skilled one they could put against Liu Jin without people crying bullshit.
Among Core Disciples, he'd be among the low-end in terms of power.
Q4: Does the Elder in charge of the Medical Pavilion not need any medical knowledge?
In theory, you want the guy in charge of the Medical Pavilion to know about medicine and pill-making. That's part of the reason why Elder Cheung was an Elder despite his relatively low level compared to the other Elders.
However, it's not vital for the position because, for the most part, the Medical Pavilion largely deals with physical injuries. Cases that require the expertise of a Heaven+ cultivator with a focus on medicine are not many. In case of emergency, one of the other Elders can help out.
Still, being good at medicine would usually be a consideration, but Lord Feng Shang's side really wants to put in another Elder and the last guy who was chosen as an Elder for being good at medicine didn't really work out.
Q5: Between Nine-Headed Snake God and Patriarch Feng Zhang, who has the more powerful aura?
This is complicated to answer for a lot of reasons.
For example, what Liu Jin can sense now and what he could sense back then are not the same thing. Also, Nine-Headed Snake God wasn't really trying to impress anyone with his aura, but he also wasn't trying to be careful with it like Feng Zhang was this chapter [during the feast]. Then again, Liu Jin interacted with Nine-Headed Snake God from miles away while Feng Zhang is kind of right there.
And so on.
That said, if you just want to know who's stronger, alive Nine-Headed Snake God would be stronger.
Q6: How does someone leave a Sect and go for a bigger one? From the way Jin’s friends are described, they were a part of their family sects who were subordinate to the Eternal Flame. If that’s the case what stops the top talent from these mid rank sects leaving after getting training?
It varies. Broadly speaking, no one really cares about Outer Disciples leaving. They don't know the big secrets and aren't vital enough to care about. However, as you go up in importance, it becomes harder to leave a Sect because they have put time and resources on you. They want a return on that investment.
In those cases, a disciple may have to punch their way out.
It bears noting that once you're in a top tier sect, you aren't going to have much incentive to leave because why would you? You are getting exactly what you want.
Bei Hong and Lu Mei's cases are possible because their Sects have a working relationship with the Eternal Flame Clan. Both are talents, but neither are a Young Master or something. Them being allowed to go to the Eternal Flame Clan is a way to foster good relationships* with the Eternal Flame Clan.
There are also absolutely cases where high level Sects will shamelessly poach valuable talents from weaker sects.
*And also put their problem children in an environment that may be better suited for them.

2021-10-05 15:06:14 +0000 UTCOne question I was interested in, at one point you mentioned how Feng Zhi's high cultivation level in relation to his age is a product of skill, resources and, above all, lineage/eugenics. What I'm curious about is if Liu Jin, given his heritage, also reaped such benefits from his parentage?

2021-10-01 15:28:00 +0000 UTCYou recently mentioned that all top tier sects have some form of inheritance from the era before like Liu jins nine headed snake god channels/meridians, don't remember the name, and the eternal flame clans eternal flame. How did they go about creating these powers in the first place and are people still creating new powerful powers that can rival that of the inheritances and if not then why not?

2021-09-30 07:21:05 +0000 UTCLol ... I think something like 9 or 6 would ruin the novel unless you have 4000 chapters ... Which rarely works ... For there to be a harem in a good novel there needs to be a good character development and this author succeeded as of the present ...

2021-09-29 15:36:53 +0000 UTCFeel free to ignore this question if it's too spoilery, but I feel like I need to ask. Just how many girls (and potentially boys) are going to end up in Lui Jin's harem? I ask because Lui Jin personally seems relatively opposed to a harem, and also because I'm worried about character bloat. At some point in most Xianxia the harem takes over the cast list, and I'm hoping this story avoids that problem. Don't need to give an exact number, something like <10 would also be fine.
