December Exclusive: Draconic Sphere Zenkai

Hello patrons!

For the final month of December, our Recruit, Adventurers, and Legends voted on a new pugilist Fight Club as the exclusive: the Draconic Sphere Zenkai. The prompt for this Fight Club was "DBZ inspired" but since I've never seen even an episode...I made my best guesses! In the end, I had a lot of fun writing this and hope you have just as much fun reading and playing it.

Happy holidays to everyone and I'm hoping for a better 2021 for us all. Thanks for your ongoing support!

Thanks,

Benjamin

There is definitely something in the pipeline for Pugilist that, if it all works out, means the core class and all archetypes will be published in a PoD product on DM's Guild. I will give updates when the time nears! Thanks so much for the well wishes. We seem to be pulling through it but you never know it's over until it's over so hopefully we can put this behind us soon.

Aye. Honestly, given that ye had a lot of fun writin' this, I'd probably do the same and be a bit forgetful at that. And I apologize for makin' a digressional note here since I honestly always forget I have a twitter in the first place but I remember readin' that ye wanted to do yer own "Tasha's Cauldron" for The Pugilist. How do ye feel about that idea currently given some time has passed now? And one last thing: Ye have me in yer thoughts based on the recent tweets about the results of the COVID tests yer family went through. If ye all happen to suffer COVID, I really, really hope it'll be very mild throughout it all, no matter how slim a chance that is, and I hope ye all get through it safely. I already know people who have suffered from it. Please be safe.

Honestly, I kind of forgot about grappling when I was working on it (which I know is crazy given what class I was writing the feature for). The idea is that primarily you use it to do incredible feats of strength (I should probably amend it to say that attacks against objects don't end it too). So, consider those two official amendments and if I get the chance I'll update the doc to include those changes.

I love the Pugilist for certain and plan to get a Street Saint rollin' sooner or later. Curious, though, about what the balance act for "Over 9,000" was? While it allows a one-pump dump of a punch, the fear is, well, the ability score bein' that high - especially given the base allowance of a bonus action grab attack that ye don't need a feat for. Though I'm not an expert on 5E and I doubt I'll ever be despite all that I look into so I'm curious on how ye handled this feature all-in-all. Do love the insanity of it, personally.
