Pugilist Anniversary Magic Items Preview

Hello there backers!

In case you can't tell already, I'm gearing up heavy for this year's Pugilist anniversary. That's because this is the year I feel like I have finally circled back around to and put a neat little bow on all the loose ends of the class. I hope you feel the same way!

When I asked Sterling Vermin fans what other kinds of content they'd like to see in the Pugilist update this year it was unanimous that they wanted more magic items. So I wrote some new ones! I'm not sure I'm done writing them yet, but I wanted to share what I have already.

Thanks,

Benjamin

.... those magical inks, *drool* well, time for me to go abuse them in character creation and try to break the game!

The Pugilist class doesn't have the weight of history behind it so it doesn't have any exclusive magic items by default. Thematically I think Bonebreakers are a pretty tight fit with Pugilist. Fighters & Barbarians tend to fight with different weapons and Monks tend to be less brutal so I felt this was a good place for a class restricted weapon. Nothing's going to break if you waive that restriction for you campaign, though.

Patreon can be a challenge to navigate, for sure.

That's awesome! I can't wait to see it. Edit: I don't know how to reply to individual comments.. enjoy the extra mainline comment

Definitely. I don't have an exact timeline but sometime before December I plan to do a update & expansion for the Magus class. Backers will be in the loop!

These are pretty wicked! The bottle took me a second to realise the bar brawl reference haha Any chance of Magus weapons? Even just as a backburner project?

I love all of these. I can see more than just pugilists interested in those Bonebreakers, though. Monks absolutely, some fighters, maybe a few builds of barbarian. If you don’t change it in the document I’ll most likely be houseruling it. Most official items that have restrictions on who can attune to them are based on strong RP concerns (like the Holy Avenger) or mechanical concerns (like the Hat of Wiardry or any of the bard instruments). I don't really see either of those in the Bonebreakers.
