Magus Art Preview #1

Hi everybody!

Included here is the first art preview for the Magus class. You might note that the Arcane Order Magus depicted here has the Sterling Vermin logo on his shield and that's because he's an image of my own D&D character who started the Sterling Vermin Adventuring Co. in Faerun - Mouse! Since the Magus didn't exist when I started playing Mouse I played him as an Eldritch Knight Fighter but he is much more at home in the Magus class. I hope you like him!

As I spend Saturday working on the v0.5 of the Magus class I am also considering making an updated version of the Saurian race complete with original art and at least one, but maybe more, new subraces. Would you all be interested in that? Let me know!

Thanks,

Benjamin

In the beginning, I thought it was gonna feel lacking when it comes to combat, but between throwing out Critical Analyses and Healing (Via the physician path), Basic attacks doing +Int damage at level 5, theres always options when it comes to how you wanna take your turn, which is awesome! I think we both know that Out of Combat is where the scholar really shines. With the Cunning Linguist erudite application, being able to communicate with absolutely any being is a super amazing skill (Whether or not that's reasonable for a level 2, who knows), as a Half Elf Sage, you can meet the 5 Language prereq at level one. Also as a Half elf, by 3rd level, I had training in 9 skills and expertise in two of em. It was amazing. Overall, it felt really versatile, with very helpful combat options, and easily surpassing the rogue or bard as skill/tool junkie.

Hey Brenden - I'd be really interested in hearing about your experience with the Scholar. Did you go Physician or Tactician? Which Erudite Applications did you take? What was the most fun part of playing a Scholar? What, if anything, felt lackluster?

Just the prospect of some more scholar content is making me so excited. I playtested 1-5 and its the most fun I've ever had with a homebrew class! Take as long as you need, Im sure you'll make it phenomenal!

Hey Brendan - welcome to the Sterling Vermin Adventuring Company! I have gotten a lot of requests to return to the Scholar both from Patreon backers and general SV fans so I think a return to it is likely...maybe even imminent? I have been away from it for awhile now so once I complete Magus I'll take another look at it and see if its the right time to come back. I don't want to get anyone too excited, because I don't know what the time scale of getting it done will actually be, but I think I am going to commission a piece of art soon that would eventually be used in the Scholar class if I complete it.

Hey Ben, I just pledged and I was wondering if you had any plans in the works to expand on the Scholar. If not, thats totally reasonable, you're doing amazing work. Im just a huuuuuuuge fan of the Scholar, its without a doubt my favorite thing you've released (Despite it only being levels 1-5)

Definitely interested in Saurian, and can't wait to see the updated Magus!

The art looks great! And I'd be interested in seeing an updated Saurian. It's a really cool race, but I think many of its subraces might be a bit too powerful when combined with the base racial traits. And I must admit that I'm extremely curious about what this/these new subrace(s) might be.
