Stray Kids Survival Show (Ep.8)

Stray Kids Survival Show (Ep.8)

Comments

Can you imagine if JYP had held to his decision to eliminate Felix here? Stray Kids' breakthrough moment was God's Menu - and especially Felix's iconic Michelin line from it. Without that, Stray Kids might never have got their global presence that they do now. He has been the "face" of the group, and crucial to their sound. Lee Know has also, although less obviously, become crucial to their sound. It was not obvious at the time what his role would be vocally as he had very little training, but by pure luck, his voice fell very nicely into a gap between the others - that gentle falsetto of his, filling in some high notes. So he has been of more use than just as a dancer and 3rd vocalist. Even when JYP brought Lee Know and Felix back in the finale, it was begrudgingly, but his initial decision was so grossly wrong (although lots of people think that the eliminations were just for TV drama purposes and they always intended to bring them back - consider that the Hellevator video had already been released). And I cry every time I watch this. I know Felix was reinstated, but he didn't know that was going to happen, and neither did any of the others. I've never seen Changbin cry that hard. Hyunjin telling Felix not to cry while crying himself was so sad.

I just want to give all their past selves a big hug. The dragging out is tourture...I have always felt this 'Survival show' should have been a docuseries without the elimination shit ... but MNET needed drama ... so lets traumatise some teenagers (grrrrrr) .... regardless I still like watching this show because of Stray Kids and watching their process and friendships get stronger... but yeah trauma! ... Even though I do see the reasons why Minoh and Felix were singled out (although I don't think there was grounds for elimination... just more training) ... in my head I feel like JYP woke up and decided he didn't like 'Good looking dancing cats with the family name Lee' and realised there was still one left after Minoh so got rid of Felix as well. I like to think that during the busking is when Jun K. decided "One day I will collab with Changbin"... and 8 years later it happened. The way Day 6's Young K looks at Chan reminds me of how Chan looks at I.N 😊. and there is the same age gap lol.

Why am I watching this… why am I doing this to myself

I think these elimination procedures traumatize the young singers and often are why groups don't succeed. At least SKZ was one group to start with, but other groups start with trainees competing against each other, then suddenly all the competition and hurts have to be forgotten and become "one". With SKZ, it was more about the trauma of losing someone you valued which means you fear getting close.

Ben just so you know Jun K. from 2pm loved Binnie since the survival show that he ask him to join in one of his song that came out a month ago....plz check it out https://youtu.be/ufRQo9dP5H0?si=w3puZBCkJZLioF6U

I don't know why I do this to myself. Every. Damn. Time! I cry so hard, so much. You'd think I'd be used to to it by now. But nope. Knowing what they went through, the absolute trauma they were put through, all for ratings, is just heartbreaking. So proud of them, for having more guts and determination than any of the people that made this show, and going further than anyone believed!

And now this man has like 6 jobs... every brand wants him.

This episode always has me in floods of tears, the weight of what they went through was immense. I just wanna wrap Felix up 😥

Ben you've so many skz songs still to react to, yay! Would love to see more. YAYAYA is a great song 🎵👌🏽

It's just the most heartbreaking moment for our boys. I always cry when I watch this episode, despite knowing the outcome going forwards. You just feel SO so much for them in that moment. Felix overbalancing in the dance part of YAYAYA should not have been enough to eliminate him. I feel like if it had been Han or Changbin that overbalanced, it would have been passed over as 'it happens, nevermind' but the show classed it as Felix making a fatal mistake. I feel really mad about it.

watching this episode and having "Stray Kids performed in front of the president" play next is something else lol

If I ever saw those people in front of me, I’d say: Oh, do you remember what you used to say about those kids? Take a good look now they’re at the top. Hyunjin and Felix are two of the most recognized idols in the entire industry. Most trainees and rookie idols literally have Hyunjin as their role model. they even study his fancams to practice. And Bang Chan? The amount of bullshit he had to put up with all for your precious TV ratings. Now he’s one of the most respected producers and leaders out there. Those departures? Yeah, let’s not kid ourselves. It was all about the numbers, nothing else. If those same comments were made today, in 2025, we’d be calling it what it really was: harassment. They were 8 (9) kids chasing a dream, not signing up to be chewed up, picked apart, and traumatized for your entertainment.
