2025-10-08 05:26:35 +0000 UTCThe beheading was how Paimon switched bodies the light comes for Charlie after the funeral after the cult dug up and beheaded Annie's Mother who groomed Charlie to be a host for Paimon. Charlie was beheaded by the telephone pole that had the cults symbol carved into it meaning she was destined to die there(back to the beginning of the movie when they were discussing if destiny is preordained or changeable and if that makes it more tragic) then Annie wasn't fully taken over until Steve died. Steve died for two reasons he was in the way and his death was required to bring Annie to her most vulnerable Paimon can only take full control when the host is mentally crushed and vulnerable. Then the end of the movie is weakening Peter enough for Paimon to take control at which point Annie cuts her head off so Paimon can take Peter.
