2024-11-03 16:46:09 +0000 UTCHmmm, content like this always brings out a great discussion, there’s no problem with people disliking this content if it makes them uncomfortable- but of course it depends on where that feeling comes from, if they don’t like it because the sexualisation of real people feels icky that’s so understandable, if the idea of them being in a relationship makes people uncomfortable that’s… not great and probably stems from homophobia. Personally I love watching minsung interactions because the chemistry between them is so beautiful and I also find myself able to consume content like this because in my mind I can separate the two as fiction and reality. I don’t ever make content like this or leave suggestive comments under shipping videos cause personally for me that steps the line - I only ever comment on how cute and wholesome their relationship/friendship whatever-ship that they have is. for the people who make this content they are obviously very skilled with art etc and find this depiction to not be problematic - I think the difference on whether it’s okay or not will always be debatable but ultimately minsung are still going to minsung and I do not like the people who leave comments - not saying they don’t like it - but saying that it will ruin minsung friendship, because I think that really undermines the friendship/relationship minsung have, they’ve been shipped like this for years and they’ve never been put down by the shipping in fact they feed into it and joke - when me and my bestie joke about dating the whole idea is to trick and confuse people of the nature of our relationship. So it’s entirely understandable to think that it’s wrong and I’ll never knock someone for finding content like this uncomfortable cause it feels invasive, as long as they people don’t go round spreading rumours that’s it’s “going to or has ruined minsungs friendship like how shippers ruined Hyunlix” rubbish, because very clearly minsung are going strong right now and “shippers” havent ruined anything, if an idol seems like they find stuff like this uncomfortable then it should 100% be stopped, I really wish idols came out and talked about boundaries more because otherwise fandoms are left in a grey area not knowing what their idol is comfortable with, some idols might like sexy thirsty edits and fanarts cause it makes them feel cool and helps with their self doubt and body image where as others might find it weird and invasive, some idols might enjoy shipping and play into it with fan service where as others might find it strains their relationships with other members. Ultimately at the end of the day with minsung they’ve never really seemed to care and lee know and Han will keep on flirting to the end of time it seems, the content you chose to consume is up to you and if you don’t like it (but for the right reasons and not because of homophobia) then that’s perfectly normal and it’s better to block and ignore content you dislike, starting arguments and fanwars however only makes the fandom environment hostile and depressing, I wish people were more civil and talked about what it was they don’t like and why without shouting and pointing fingers at each other (edit: an example of this is how some fans comment FREINDSHIP under minsung videos to the point even using the word ‘relationship’ which is literally the word you use to describe friendships or relations with a mother or a teacher or a work partner aparently is shipping them romantically so then when shippers who support them being in a romantic relationship but aren’t sure if they’re dating so out of respect were saying ‘whatevership’ because it implies that whatever their relationship is we still love and support them and minsung antis still would still scream FRIENDSHIP from the hills really highlights the homophobia some fans have, fighting against the term whatevership with such anger it’s actually quite disheartening, being queer and knowing from many other queer stays, skz have always been very supportive of LGBTQ+ and yet some ‘stays’ still deny that some members even know what LGBT is, saying “Hyunjin doesn’t know what that pride pin meant, how dare the stylists force a gay pin badge on him” “skz didn’t know that that was a pride event they attended” “bangchan didn’t know there was a pride flag behind him” it’s like be fr stop acting like they’re babies)

2024-10-28 02:46:51 +0000 UTCfan art can be super fun and cute (for instance the recent fan project for the sydney concert) but a lot of the time it feels exploitative. idc what minsungs relationship is as long as they are both safe and happy, but they did not consent to the kind of representation of their relationship that a lot of fans lean towards. there’s plenty of arguments about whether or not things like this are harmful or acceptable because it’s art so we shouldn’t be censoring people expressions, but it’s not really a desirable thing if you truly have respect towards the kids and their relationships with eo as well as with stay. i’m not upset at ben for making this video because he probably could not have guessed the immediate direction this was going to take if he’s not familiar with the culture of most fan artist circles. mostly i just hope we as his community can be more mindful of the sorts of things we recommend for ben to react to. i think i know exactly what was happening here and what the desired reaction to this was supposed to be and that deeply upsets me. ben is a human just like lee know and han. it’s gross to think that some of you will behave this way to someone’s face. to those that requested this, please be more respectful to him as well as the artists he reacts to in the future. love you ben, hopefully there’s a much less uncomfortable way to celebrate minsung that you can react to soon!

Its not cool to make sexual fake content about kpop idols, regardless of the gender, for scenarios that never actually occurred. Thats the main difference between fan art and ship videos. this isnt me discrediting the artists talent because they're great artists, but the content is insane, and it worries me that so many people are just okay with it.

If you find it weird because SKZ are real people and seeing fan art of real people makes you uncomfortable, that’s understandable. But if you find it weird because of the subject matter alone, that is homophobia. The fact is Minho and Jisung have done way more than any other kpop idol to make suggestions that they have a special relationship - they have never discouraged shipping and have encouraged it on multiple occasions directly to fans standing in front of them. SKZ doesn’t need to them to do that to be popular and Minho absolutely doesn’t do things he doesn’t want to most of the time. So pls don’t think that the suggestion that they could be romantic bothers them - it doesn’t. But if it makes you uncomfortable seeing it because they are real people and before you were distanced enough for it not to bother you, then that should be your only reason to find this “weird and wrong.”

I think SKZ must know about these and it doesn’t stop Lee Know from grabbing Han’s ass. I ADORE Minsung, whatever their relationship actually is, and I'm not going to judge anyone for their artistic renderings, buuut....I can't personally ship two real people like that, especially people I feel like I know as well as SKz. (Like, I know I DON'T really, but it FEELS like it). Whether they're just friend soulmates or a couple, I can't sit through a bunch of very adult shipping fan art about them. It just feels....like an overstep. If they were fictional characters, all day long, but since they are real people it's a hard line for me.
