Added 2025-08-06 21:06:36 +0000 UTCI leave tomorrow morning for the Long Island Retro Gaming Expo. I’m looking forward to it! I’m not looking for anything specific as far as games, and I’d be surprised if I pick up anything, but I’m pumped all the same to look through the Game Boy games on the floor. Who knows, maybe I’ll find something weird? All I’m bringing to sell this year are copies of the Yokoi Kids zines. If I end up bringing any games to sell it’ll be a small amount and decided upon last minute.
Last weekend I played Battletech: Alpha Strike with some members of the local Discord group. It was fun and the folks seemed chill so I’m less intimidated by the league that begins in September. It was two teams of two players, and the game was a straight deathmatch since it’s the easiest to set-up and we had a player with time constraints. We had less points at the end of the final round before my teammate had to leave, so we lost. Had we had time to grind it out one more round I think we could’ve claimed victory, but alas. If I wasn’t going to LIRGE I’d definitely be finding a game this weekend!
When I get back from the convention, I’ll get back to the larger organization project I have going on. I wouldn’t call it packing, but it’s something like prepacking. I’m trying to clear out odds and ends, papers, and sort out things I’d like to sell before I move. At the same time, I’m organizing my collections as best I can so that when it comes time to pack (six/seven months from now) it will be easy to box it up. I’m looking forward to having things tidy again.
