Chapter 165: Aurors in Shock

George spread his wings, soaring above Hermione and the others. A radiant holy magic array appeared above his head, projecting three beams of light that landed around them, forming a massive protective barrier that shielded everyone from harm.
All the wizards, including the one still conjuring lightning outside—Moddox—were utterly stunned.
With his pristine white wings and the radiant glow, George resembled not a wizard but an angel from Muggle mythology, hovering above to shield everyone from the menacing storm.
"Why are you all standing there? Cast a high-level protective charm already!"
Seeing Amy, Lena, and the Aurors below frozen in awe, George shouted in exasperation. He could hold off the lightning strikes for a while, but even his Triadic Guardians couldn't last indefinitely.
Snapped back to reality, Amy and the others quickly began casting their spells.
"Ultimate Protection! Protego Maxima! Block the enemy!"
Pooling their collective magical power, the Aurors created a colossal magic barrier in the sky. It replaced George's Triadic Guardians and withstood the barrage of lightning.
Meanwhile, Moddox, seeing George cast Triadic Guardians, realized things were going south. While maintaining the lightning spell, he turned and fled toward the central exit of the magical street.
If he could reach the statue marking the boundary of the magical district, he could escape into the Muggle streets and apparate away—no Auror would be able to track him.
"Old man, do you think you can escape?"
Seeing the Aurors now holding back the lightning, George withdrew his Triadic Guardians. Casting a shield charm over himself, he flapped his wings and surged forward, chasing Moddox.
Initially, George kept a cautious distance, observing Moddox. Only when they were far enough from the Aurors did George accelerate, cutting him off.
"You little brat! You're courting death!"
Moddox stopped maintaining his lightning spell, shifting his focus. Raising his wand, he cast a Killing Curse at George.
"Avada Kedavra!"
A green beam of light streaked toward George at breakneck speed.
"Fast casting!"
George barely twisted out of the way in time, the lethal curse narrowly missing him as he landed on the ground.
Compared to the other dark wizards he had faced, Moddox was leagues ahead in skill. The timing and speed of his spell were executed with terrifying precision—George had nearly fallen for it.
"Avada Kedavra!"
Before George could regain his footing, a second Killing Curse came flying at him.
On solid ground, George was far more agile. He dodged effortlessly while retaliating with a spell of his own.
"Expelliarmus!"
The red spell shot toward Moddox, but with a flick of his wand, the seasoned dark wizard deflected it, countering with another spell.
"Impedimenta!"
A wave of invisible force enveloped George, immediately slowing him down.
In terms of magical knowledge, George—despite his exceptional skills for a first-year student—was no match for a top-tier dark wizard like Moddox.
But George had more than just magic from this world.
"Sectumsempra!"
With a swift wand motion, George unleashed the curse alongside eight razor-sharp blades that shot toward Moddox from all directions.
"Not bad for your age," Moddox sneered. "But you're still too inexperienced."
Mistaking George's attack as a levitation spell controlling the blades, Moddox countered with a freezing charm.
"Immobulus!"
His powerful magic froze the incoming blades mid-air, stopping them cold.
Unfortunately for him, the freezing charm did nothing against the Sectumsempra curse.
The invisible curse slashed through the air, severing Moddox's wrist and disarming him.
To ensure the dark wizard couldn't cast wandless or silent spells, George activated another magic array above him.
"Radiant Bindings!"
A barrage of light magic struck Moddox's back, slamming him to the ground. George closed the distance in a flash.
"Legilimens!"
Combining his psychic abilities with the Legilimency spell, George delved into Moddox's memories.
"As expected," he muttered, quickly finding what he was searching for.
"Stupefy!"
After incapacitating Moddox with a stunning spell, George rummaged through the man's robes. He retrieved an ancient, tattered book no thicker than a journal. The title read A Grimoire of Thunder Magic: Communing with the Skies to Harness Lightning.
This was the source of the lightning magic Moddox had just unleashed, found in the grave of a third-century wizard.
"Copy Spell!"
George used a recently learned duplication charm to create a perfect replica of the grimoire. He slipped the copy into his pocket and replaced the original in Moddox's robes.
The charm could only replicate non-magical items, and while the copy looked identical, its magical essence would eventually dissipate. Still, it was enough for George's purposes.
"George! George!"
Just as George finished, Amy, Lena, and the other Aurors arrived. They had rushed over the moment the lightning ceased, fearing George had fallen to the dark wizard.
"Vulnera Sanentur!"
Concerned that the Sectumsempra curse might kill Moddox, George healed the man's wounds with a counter-curse. Calmly turning to the others, he said, "Don't worry, he's only unconscious."
"We weren't worried about him—we were worried about you!"
Amy and the Aurors stood in stunned silence, taking in the scene.
They knew George was talented—his earlier rescue and his shield against the lightning had proven that.
But seeing him single-handedly defeat the infamous, internationally wanted dark wizard left them utterly speechless.
After all, George was only eleven or twelve years old—a mere child.
