Estonia - the digital state

That about Greece is so true.

Damn, Estonia has figured out the way forward, out of the communist darkness. Just to give a case to compare for the Non-PostSoviet countries. Here in Bulgaria during the past elections (November 2023) there was a huge scandal, the largest party by voting pool GERB/CEDB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria) that are well known for their corruption schemes, had arranged for the voting machines to be loaded with larger ticket rolls than the machine could work with causing a breakdown after less than 100 votes. Also there were mass of recordings of them filling empty Ballots and scribbling on a legitimate ones to make them invalid. The Opposition commented that "The voting machines don't eat Adana Kebab." To end on a positive note: Digitalization is the way foward to a better Europe, and Estonia is showing the way.

Extremely interesting video as always

Yeah, and then I'd stop making fun of our states incompetence

Honestly, as a Californian, I wish we could take some of these lessons and make our state governance more efficient. We create so much wealth I bet we could do some amazing things without raising taxes.

Awesome video! :) I really like the fact, all the steps are mentioned, because, while we 'copy' digital state parts in Czech rep. last few years (which is great :) ), many voices are still complaining about 'too slow digitalization process', which really makes me to roll my eyes as an IT worker .. step by step attitude with effectivity, security and check balances of Estonian e-government through longer time frame (as shown nicely in the video :) ) is the way to tame 'paper hydra' of the state effectively and safely. So once more, thanks for the great video.

I remember I applied to e-residency back in 2015-2016, was too poor to actually pay the fees nor did I have an international banking presence (also didn’t even have my Bachelor’s) , being from a Latin American country in it’s worse crisis (Venezuela) I found the system at that time already leagues advanced than anything I had seen in the west and in the continent. Nowadays Mexico is trying to adopt and other countries like Colombia and Chile. Maybe I’ll try this time to get the e-residency if hopefully allows me to leave the country I currently am to improve my life.
