Changeling Tale v1.0.2 is LIVE, as is the Steam Client Privacy Feature!

Edit - We had an issue getting Ren'Py to sync with Steam for achievements, and created a hotfix (1.0.2.1) to fix it. If you played the game in the window between the patch and the hotfix, the next time you open the game on Steam, after it updates, it should correctly award you any earned achievements. Itch users are not affected.

Today we are excited to release Changeling Tale version 1.0.2 on PC, Mac & Linux! An update to Android will follow a little later this month.

Remember, if you received the game via Itch.io and do not use the Itch client, you will need to download Changeling Tale again to play this most current version (don't worry, no game data will be lost!). Those who activated the game on Steam or in the Itch client will receive updates automatically.

But first, some important news from Steam:

Privacy Feature Now Accessible from the Steam Client

The STEAM PRIVACY FEATURE is now on the public Steam client! Hiding games (like Changeling Tale) that you don't want your friends to see is now easier than ever! In the client, simply go to the "Manage" submenu on the game itself and mark it as "private."

New Changeling Tale Version 1.0.2 for PC, Mac & Linux

This patch includes updated art for Grace's Chapters 4 & 5 (the handful of flat colored assets that remained at launch are now fully rendered) as well as some bug fixes and refinements, big and small. Thanks to all the players who have provided us feedback and helped us identify areas for improvement!

Big bug fixes include the ability to unlock the "Slurp" achievement once more (yay!), and calculations now correctly letting players reach 100% story completion. That means the final Baird's entry can now be unlocked!

A full list of fixes and improvements follow:

IMPROVEMENTS

• The remaining Grace assets have been fully rendered
• In the reset interface, added quotation marks around "forget" to highlight the word
• Improved Easter Egg back end calculations
• Added some fidelity to The Mischievous Fish song
• Fixed some later images in Jessie's slideshow credits
• Split Fae Nobility onto their own page in the credits
• Hid the text box window at several appropriate points

BUG FIXES

• "Slurp" Achievement can now be activated
• 100% Story Completion is now reachable
• The correct version of Marion's ending now correctly plays on replay from the Story Branches (will need to speed through each variant again from scene 11 to unlock the ending replays - use "ctrl" or the skip button to go fast!)
• Fixed Grace's final embrace scene to correctly point to her chest file
• Malcolm's nightmare secret after completing all three stories now displays correctly
• Baird's table of contents now correctly shows "Pixie" when the entry is still locked
• Bonus scene background is now the correct size
• Corrected an issue in Marion's Chapter 4 that might make scene 11 play out incorrectly
• Marion's second sprite slideshow now unlocks at the beginning of Chapter 3 instead of the end of Chapter 2
• Jessie's 1st form, 11th style now correctly displays as an underlay instead of an overlay
• Marion's 3rd form, 5th style no longer allows using the arrow to advance nonexistent expressions
• Trimmed several lines overflowing the expression buttons
• Missing image on Grace's 4th form, 2nd and 4th styles removed
• Malcolm's facts page now correctly skips his werewolf form when cycling back from his other transformed form without having played Jessie's Chapter 4
• Grace's chest now shows during the coils scene when active
• Reduced the number of times Marion's sprite was called in the barn to smooth the tail animation

WRITING

• No longer refer to Alana's fingers as gloved, or her dress as having lapels
• Reworded some bucket language for consistency
• Added more unique boat name responses
• Corrected several typos and grammar mistakes in the narrative
