Baird's Entry - Werewolf

Werewolf
The vicious lycanthrope, the man-wolf, cursed to walk among beasts. But a nibble or a scratch from a lupine soul is all it takes to contract the scourge. Beneath the light of the moon, the offending affliction mutates… both the scar and the man. The claws come first, then the full body hair, the long canine teeth. There soon appears the midnight beast, the wild dog created by ferocity, to breed more destruction.
Unlike the Wulver, the Werewolf is not born of any condition other than human. Once changed, he will hunt new prey. How does one avoid attack, ye ask? Keep alert at dusk and nightfall, watching out for the glowing yellow eyes of a lycan on the prowl. Ne’er disturb four-legged creatures of the night.
Werewolves will find like creatures, oft disappearing into the woods to live as packs, always desperate to return to humanity. A lucky few might find salvation through the warmth of the sun's rays, the dignity of their own clothes, or a brew of petal of azuchroma. Others, like the damned souls of Ossory, are doomed to forever walk the earth as monsters.
There comes a time in a man’s life when he has to decide which of the fairytale legends will haunt him forever, and which of those he will leave behind in his childhood nightmares. Hold tight to the knowledge that Werewolves are real. Believe not the horror stories of the Wulver’s attacks, and risk having your life fall from two legs onto four.

Baird's Entry - Werewolf

Comments

Having just played the game and done Jessie's story this past weekend, that is the impression I got too. Unless I missed something, Jessie is a wulver (at least, Agnes thinks so), having been born that way and being kind, protective, and caring (all personality traits of a wulver). Then there's Alana who said to Malcolm that he's no wulver. But he was turned into a wolf by Jessie, and yet he doesn't seem to fit the bill of being a werewolf (he's not savage or vicious, or forced to transform on full moons). So he must be a werewulver (human turned into a wolf by a born wulver).

Travis Sebastian

NO THAT'S TERRIBLE!!

Val Salia

I tried to fit it back in but there wasn't a lot of visual space between the moon and the wolf :V

Wat

Beneath the light of the clam moon, beware the ferocious wereyinglet!

Little Napoleon

And then there's the werewulvers

Val Salia

Agreed

Kerbalnaut123

You don't need an app you just need to go out to the forest during a full moon

Pheagle

No it's fine cause that raises a point. The fear of our own kind, the fact that we can't fully understand the other which leads to outcast and hate. And that seems to be with so many in some cases. I know that all too well

Colord44

I completely understand that, but the problem lies in the fact it took them that long just to want to understand them. It’s a shame that us humans immediately fear that which we don’t understand, and only the bravest and kindest of us (like Malcolm) are the ones that try to understand. Sorry for getting all philosophical lol.

Kerbalnaut123

I'm just checking... very regularly ok don't shame me...

Maku

It was just after WW1 It wasn't until much later after ww II that finally, wolves were truly looked into and understood. I get the enraging feeling that comes with how she's treated. It's fear of the unknown, the naive, fear itself that's truly scary that creates monsters

Colord44

I love Jessie too, it’s just a shame how society believes her to be a monster.

Kerbalnaut123

Well that's how it was with a lot of things. But Jessie is still Jessie who I love.

Colord44

So that makes more sense as to how Jessie is such a kind loving wuff, and the ones in Bairds are seen as absolute monsters. Cmon Baird, get over yourself ya dwankie!

Kerbalnaut123

Yea I thought he wasn’t 100% accurate. It is still neat to have these bits of lore here and there. As always well done!

Kerbalnaut123

Maybe then again the wolf is a creature to be respected and loved. Don't work against Mother Nature and all and she won't kick your ass back.

Colord44

Can't wait to roll it out to you guys! :D

Little Napoleon

Maku you don't need to keep refreshing your "Find Hot Werewolves Near You" app every 30 seconds jeez

Little Napoleon

We know that Baird himself is an untrustworthy source, but that kernels of truth reside in his work... hopefully there are enough breadcrumbs to let the player draw some conclusions about the nature of the characters in game!

Little Napoleon

They're always the first casualty of a TF.

Little Napoleon

We do our best to do the real mythology this is based on justice!

Little Napoleon

There wolf.

Little Napoleon

I'm surprised Wat removed the spooky castle from the original!

Little Napoleon

Baird must have just woken up on the wrong side of the bed most days XD

Little Napoleon

Perhaps savage! Although we know that Baird doesn't take kindly to things Fae, so perhaps he exaggerates...

Little Napoleon

Yeah, the mythology goes out of the way to differentiate the two, and we wanted to have an opportunity to explain how some of the characters' situations differ in the game as well ^^

Little Napoleon

So Jessie might be a werewolf, I wonder how this occurred if she is, if not what makes her a wulver, is she both, I’m ready Nep Nep I’m more hyped for this chapter than ever

Awesome Dude

👀

Kerbalnaut123

Ah yes, such a terrible fate. You'd have to be a real sicko to like werewolves, or want to be one. Real freaks if you ask me

Maku

Wow, that makes werewolves seem like monsters, this doesn't help poor Jessie. It definitely clears up some of the finer details I was wondering about for her endings though. There are still a few other details, like how Jessie doesn't seem to follow some of these rules that Baird researched. Other than that this still leaves one big question for me, how did Jessie contract lycanthropy? Maybe there's an answer somewhere I haven't found yet, or maybe Jessie was born this way. Who really WAS Miss McLeod? Good thing I love hunting for lore!

Kerbalnaut123

Bye Bye Clothes

Pheagle

I never did know there was such a stark difference between Werewolves and Wulver. I was under the impression they were one in the same. Who this this 18+ visual novel would be educational.

Nekonomicon

Just beautiful 😍

Xilryu

Spooky!

Zod

More wolf slander from this goof. :)

KC

The more savage of the two wolves in one self.

Colord44

ahhhh so there's a difference between Werewolves and Wulvers! Real neat!
