Qidi Plus4, early access, news

Hello, Just to inform you about my latest activity.

Qidi Plus4 review video is finished, public from tomorrow, but you can find it in the 3D printing playlist. Soon I can start PPS filament testing too.

What is already printed: Creality PPA-CF, Sunlu PC-ABS, Qidi 3xPPA based filaments (CF, GF and Core). Ah, that creep test is so sloooow. Beside Creality PPA-CF, I also bought few other filaments too: PTFE+PETG (Teflon+PETG ??), Graphene filaments (PLA and PETG). I also ordered eSun PET (not CF) to see how it performs compared to PET-CF..

Igor, Is there a new link for the spreadsheet that includes the creality ppa-cf? I can't seem to find it. Thanks

Daniel Gabriele

Looking forward to more technical filament tests. Still hoping you'll test add:north PC-CF one day, pretty sure it is at least stiffer than anything you tested until now.

But because PC-ABS is an "old material" right now I am trying to replace it with CPE HT and maybe PETG-PTFE. I am looking forward to your test of the PETG-PTFE.

Because ... besides the "Styrols" and "Bisphenols" ... PC-ABS has a uniqe blend of material properties: Hard surface, stiff, still bends, good impact resistance, ... aaand ... what almost all materials outside of ABS and ASA lack, it does not squeak and crackle "stick-slip" in friction joints, think boom arms and box lids.

I saw that in your Qidi Plus4 test prints you were having problems with PC-ABS. I have been down that road and had to throw away 4 different brands of that material, because my enclosed Prusa MK4 with active heating in form of a hairdryer+thermostat and chamber temps of around 45° C just could not prevent warping. .... But there is a PC-ABS blend out there that has been printable, even on my old Ultimaker 2, and this is the BASF Ultrafuse PC/ABS FR. Give it a try! It can be difficult to find. I used to buy it here: https://www.igo3d.com/BASF-Ultrafuse-PC-ABS-FR-Schwarz-175-mm-750-g

Friction test is a great idea! Also, I’m really looking forward to PPS-CF tests.

You might need a new test of PTFE+PETG to compare its friction coefficient to other filaments. As always, thank you for your testing that informs our purchasing decisions.
