Hi Folks,
Time to take care of Hans- the Trench Ogryn!
More than 2h of evening-filling miniature painting goodness, covering all the different elements of this fantastic model.

Who is Hans?
He is the centerpiece that the whole unit evolved around.
I got the Fusil mayor on War Hulk as a gift from my good friend Matt Cexwish! When I saw him, I knew he could make a cool Warhammer 40k Ogryn.

I started the conversion without having a certain scenario in my head.
I wanted to do a large part of the conversion by just removing elements and carving my own version into the bare plastic.
I started it by shaving off the weird hair and altering the beard.

In the next step, I removed all the chainmail, shortened the shoulder pads, and removed all the fantasy insignia.
Here you can find a link to a Google Drive folder with a few unedited WIP pictures that show the conversion progress:

I think it´s quite nice to see the evolution of Hans.
I also took the time and got rid of all the visible filled undercut sections on the model. Those areas are filled up so the plastic model can get out of its steel mold.

Removing them, might not have a big impact on the overall appearance of the model, but it really helps to get a more realistic, and also shaper look.
The more I worked on him the more I liked the idea, that he would become a Death Korps of Krieg Ogryn. I think the heavy coat and the boots were the key elements that made me go for Krieg.
So I decided to add a gasmask and fitting equipment, filling up his detailed waist. I also thought that a shield and a trench club would work super well the him.
I also knew that I would want to add a big backpack construction to justify all the belts and straps that were holding the outpost before.
The backpack was the perfect place to hide personal details.

I was not sure if he would be good enough as an entry by himself, or if he needs actually a human-sized figure to understand his scale and get his role as a bodyguard. So the idea of a unit or diorama grew on me.
My friend Mikkel Overballen suggested going with the HQ Krieg unit from Forge World. And I ended up looking around for those models for quite a while, I finally got them from Simon Black.. thank you, guys... With out you and Matt this project would not have happened.
This video will show you all the different materials that this model features. We will paint the head, the green armor parts, sparkly nmm details, the sash, all the different types of leather, the grey coat, and much more.
This video will show you the whole painting process of Hans, but not the shield and some final details. We will paint those all together with the base, in the final episode of "The Last Stand of Krieg"
I hope you enjoy this video! And as always thanks for your support!

PS: Sorry for the long silence again this month.. honestly it was a rough month..our beloved Pug Pelle had an epileptic seizure(for the first time ever).
He is doing good now, but I can assure you it was a traumatizing event.
It happened the day after coming home from the fantastic Monte San Savino show(where I was a Judge), this completely kicked me out of my mojo, and ate a lot of time.
