Hi Folks,
here is the second part of the space wolves terminator,
this time we will take care of the ice base and do the final touches to the model.

We want to create a typical base for a space wolves - we will do a snow and ice base.
But we are trying to create something that is quite a bit more detailed than the average snow base, we are going for a permafrost look, with big blocks of ice, a thin layer of dirt, and undergrowth, with a bit of vegetation growing on top.
We want to create a multi-layer look, where we have all different kinds of snow and ice like light dusty snow, melted- more icy snow, icicles, big blocks of ice, and some cooler clear sharts of ice on the ground.

Surprisingly we will be able to create all this in no time thanks to one special material: We will be using natural quartz stone to imitate the big blocks of ice and also the clear ice floes on the ground.
I browsed online for quartz stones that come the closest to what I would call dirty glacier ice. Once you start looking around for minerals you will find a mesmerizing amount of super interesting and inspiring stones that could be used as all different kinds of bases.
I found the right one on Etsy, it looked amazing but needed to be broken down into smaller sharts.
I wrapped the bigger chunks in an old kitchen towel and used a hammer to break it down. Make sure to wear adequate safety gear, like goggles and gloves, etc.
Alright, can´t wait to show you the process!
We will also add the final details to the model and tie everything together with the snow.
In this video, we will also have the first appearancemy very own dark sea ben!!

We will use it to get a subtle blue reflection on the ice floes.

As always ... have fun watching the video and thanks for your support!!
